-Chapter ninety one; The Bridge--One Month Later-
———
IT HAD BEEN ONE FULL MONTH
since Gregory's execution, and one full month since Taylor had found out she was pregnant with Lee's baby. She was embarrassed how her now month and a half old baby bump now kept her from fitting into every pair of jeans she had, so she resorted back to her old cargo pants.
Daryl, who built up a whole lot of courage and swallowed his pride, also apologized to Lee for blowing up on him last month, and Daryl was now taking the role of the very excited grandfather, and also the overprotective one.
He couldn't stop throwing name ideas her way, or quit telling her to take a break from construction, and the communities were hustling to get the construction of the bridge done.
"Alri', if it's a boy, promise me you'll name it Daryl Jr. an' not Lee Jr." He would say, and, "How 'bout Hailey if it's a girl.".
Then he would go on to say, "Babygirl, take a break. I don' wan' ya' overworkin' yerself. Ya' got a baby on the way.".
Exasperated with all his questions and suggestions, nonetheless, a smile was on her face as she sat down the hammer she'd been using to nail down the wooden boards for the bridge, "Dad. Seriously. I'm okay. I't's just a little bit of manual labor.".
Aaron chuckled from beside her, "Daryl, you'd be a great dad.".
Daryl gestured over to Taylor, "I already am. I'm raisin' that emotional trainwreck.".
She scoffed, "Ha ha. Funny. He means to your own biological child, dad. It's a lot different.".
"Oh yeah." He cocked a brow, "How would you know.".
She pointed at her stomach, "I'm carrying around your granddaughter for one. Two, I've seen it happen. Chloe.".
That's when Henry walked up with a cooler of water and a cup, "Here, Taylor. Mom said you're pregnant and that you need to stay hydrated.".
She smiled, taking the cup and running it under the tap before downing the water, "Thanks, Henry. I appreciate it.".
He grinned proudly, "No problem, Taylor. It's alright if you get a little extra.".
"Hey." Justin, an ex-Savior who particularly had trouble adjusting to Daryl's leadership, spoke up, walking over, "Why does she get more than the rest of us?".
"Because she's pregnant. She needs it." Henry replied.
"That ain't fair. We should get more too, then." Justin stated, snatching the cup of water from Taylor, the water spilling onto her clothes.
