A few days pass, and Cameron invited everyone who worked with her father on Saturday Night Live to his wake, which was held in the family's house for five days. Don Roy King was buried in some cemetery in New York after the last day of the wake ended.

Three weeks since Don Roy King was buried, Cameron was called by both George Cheeks and Paul Telegdy, the presidents of NBC Entertainment since 2018, to the channel's headquarters for a short meeting. As Cameron arrived, she proceeded to sit on some empty chair in the board room of NBC's headquarters.

After that, George cleared his throat.

He asked Cameron, "Do you know why you're here today, Cameron?" Cameron shook her head. Paul then said, "Well, we called you here because we actually want to give you his last paycheck. We really admire and appreciate your father's dedication to directing Saturday Night Live, and how much hard work he put in all these years."

Cameron smiled.

After that, Cameron asked, "Well, who's going to take over Dad's reins? I mean, I don't know much about directing episodes as much as Dad when he was still alive." Paul asked back, "Well, does your father have anyone in mind who he wants? Did he ever tell you on his deathbed about who he wants to take over after he dies?"

Cameron nodded.

She then proceeded to talk to both George and Paul about her father's plans. As the conversation finished, George and Paul looked at each other and nodded. George then said, "Thank you very much for coming today, Cameron. You are, and will always be a part of the Saturday Night Live family." Cameron smiled and stood up.

After standing up, Cameron left NBC's headquarters and went back to her family's house.

Meanwhile, every cast member of Saturday Night Live was busy with either making up sketch character costumes or writing scripts for the sketches that they were going to present on the upcoming episode of the week. All of a sudden, they heard the speakers say, "John Mulaney, please proceed to the presidents' office."

Every cast member of Saturday Night Live started teasing John afterwards.

As John arrived to George and Paul's office, Paul said, "Have a seat, John." John gulped nervously, but sat down on an empty chair anyway. After that, George asked, "Do you have any idea as to why Paul and I called you here at our office?"

John shook his head.

Paul cleared his throat and said, "Well, I'm pretty sure that every cast member of Saturday Night Live knows about Don Roy King passing away a few weeks ago, yes?" John nodded. George continued, saying, "We actually spoke to his daughter earlier, and she told us that Don Roy King had plans on who he wants to replace him."

John was confused, but nodded slowly anyway.

He then asked, "Is there a reason why you called me here?" Paul chuckled and said, "Oh, yes, John. That's why we called you here." John had a gut feeling, and he blurted out, "Wait a minute... Does that mean---" George smiled at John, cut him off, and told him, "Congratulations, John! You're gonna be the next director of the show."

John felt flabbergasted.

He thought to himself, "This is such a big deal. The fact that Don Roy King actually believes in me enough to let me take over his reins? It's such an honor." John snapped out from his thoughts and said, "It'd be my honor to take over his reins."

George and Paul smiled at him and nodded.

John then asked, "So, when will the entire cast find out?" George chuckled softly and replied, "As soon as you tell them about it. Paul and I would love to see how everyone will react when you break this news to them." John chuckled as well and nodded.

Afterwards, John exited George and Paul's office and went back to his workplace.

As John came back, everyone was curious as to why he was smiling as he came back. Bobby asked, "What are you smiling about, John?" Andy asked further, "Is that smile trying to tell us that you don't really like us? That you're happy not to work with us anymore?"

John raised one eyebrow towards Andy's direction and shook his head.

He then said, "I've got fantastic news, you guys!" Jimmy told him, "Spit it out, then, John. What's it about?" John breathed out heavily and said, "Don Roy King chose me to take over his reins. I'm gonna be directing Saturday Night Live now, everybody!"

Everyone cheered.
