When Stefon was discharged, John called he and Seth to his office.
As Seth and Stefon sat down, John said, "Like I told Stefon back when we visited him as he awakened, I've got something special for both of you." Seth and Stefon looked at each other for a few seconds before facing John once again with confused faces.
A few seconds later, Stefon scratched his head.
John then told them, "I'm sure Seth remembers me saying that the iCloud hacker who also victimized Stefon's account has been arrested, no?" When Seth nodded, John said further, "Because of that, the higher-ups and I have come to another decision."
Seth and Stefon breathed out softly.
John then blurted out, "You're both back in acting at sketches, and appearing on Weekend Update. And your return is scheduled for this upcoming episode of Saturday Night Live." Seth shook his fist up in the air in joy, while Stefon gave a weak smile after the news.
John continued to explain to Seth and Stefon that Cecily and Colin were already informed about their return to Weekend Update beforehand, so their hosting duties were already vacated.
The Wednesday of that week, Stefon approached Colin and asked him, "Could we talk in private?" When Colin agreed, both of them stepped out of the writers' office for a while. Then, Colin asked him, "What is it, Stefon?" Stefon replied, "Um... first of all, Stefon just wanted to say thank you. He really appreciates you taking over Seth Meyers's hosting duties for a while." Colin smiled and said, "Well, I had lots of fun hosting, Stefon."
Stefon proceeded to roll his index fingers together.
Colin noticed this, so he asked, "Is there anything else you want to say, Stefon?" Stefon nodded and replied, "Well... Stefon was hoping that you could help turn the upcoming Weekend Update sketch as his opportunity to apologize to Seth Meyers... and to America."
Colin caressed Stefon's face and smiled.
He then said, "You know, Stefon, Seth has always hoped that you'd wake up one day." Colin proceeded to hug him and said further, "I still like working with you. I know you never wanted something like, um... what happened to both of you... to affect your careers."
Colin eventually agreed to help Stefon out.
On the Saturday of that week, John gathered every cast member before the cameras started rolling. He told them, "As we welcome Seth and Stefon back, let's all have fun tonight."
Every cast member nodded.
As the cameras started rolling, every cast member proceeded to act in the sketches that they were featured in for the episode. Halfway through, the show went to a quick commercial break.
John took the time to talk to Seth and Stefon.
He looked at Seth and asked, "Well, Seth, you remember what to do, right?" Seth chuckled and replied, "Of course, silly." After John told Seth to prepare on the set, he asked Stefon, "Have you already prepared what you're going to tell Seth later?" Stefon nodded.
The cameras started rolling again a few seconds later.
Afterwards, the audience clapped loudly as Seth said, "Damn, it feels good to be back, America." Seth talked through the applause, telling the audience, "Now that autumn is upon us here in New York, we're expecting millions of tourists to come and visit. Here now with some tips for the best spots to visit in the city is our returning city correspondent, Stefon."
The audience clapped loudly again as Stefon entered.
As Stefon said hi, Seth asked him, "How are you feeling today?" Stefon replied, "Not quite good, Seth Meyers. I was feeling under the weather in these past couple of days. Weeks, even."
Instead of canned laughter, the studio audience simultaneously let out loud 'oh?'s.
Seth nodded slowly and said to him, "So, uh, Stefon... As you know, Thanksgiving's around the corner, and many people are probably planning to come visit New York City. Do you know of any places that people can check out?" Stefon replied, "Um, actually... no."
The audience was left confused.
Stefon continued, saying, "Well, like I said, I've felt under the weather these past few days, so I haven't been in any clubs lately." Seth then said, "That's understandable, Stefon, but you see---" Stefon cut Seth off and blurted out, "I actually came here today to say..." Stefon looked at Seth and told him, "I'm sorry, Seth Meyers." As Stefon looked at the camera again, he continued, saying, "To everyone involved in this show, to our lovely audience here today, and to our wonderful viewers at home, I'm sorry."
Stefon suddenly started crying before abruptly leaving the set.
Unbeknownst to Seth, what Stefon did was part of the show's script, although the part where Stefon started to cry was not. Still perplexed by what happened, Seth said, "Well... um... I guess that's all the time we have, folks. For Weekend Update, I'm Seth Meyers, good night."
John gave Stefon a quick hug after he left the set all of a sudden and whispered to Stefon's ear that he did a good job of apologizing to Seth Meyers, as well as everyone in America, through Weekend Update. Meanwhile, Seth left the set still feeling confused.
