Melissa wakes up with dry eyes and not in her own bed. She looks down and notices that her head is laid on Hazel's stomach. She gets up and turns her back to leave when Hazel calls out.
"Mel? Are you OK?"
Crap. Melissa turns around.
"Yeah. I'm fine. Just need a stretch."
Hazel seems to spot the lie.
"Is it cause you woke on top of me? I swear nothing happened. I would never do that to you."
Melissa shakes her head.
"No. I just need a stretch."
"What are your pronouns today?"
Melissa smiles. The same question every day.
"They/they today I think."
Hazel nods. Silence fills the room until she breaks it.
"There's this person. I really like them and I think they like me but they just got out of a relationship. What do you think I should do?"
They both blush slightly. Melissa answers.
"Tell them how you feel."
"I have."
Hazel looks up at Melissa, hope filling her light brown eyes.
"I think they like you back. I think they want to be your partner." She replies, grinning. She approachs Hazel. Their lips are about to meet when Hazel pushes her gently away.
"No no." She tuts. "You can't have your first kiss before your first date!"
Melissa laughs.
"Says who?"
"My dad. Sure he doesn't always follow it but I do. Go get changed and we will leave."
Melissa smiles at how adorable her girlfriend is.

20 minutes later, the new couple walk hand in hand, down to the nearby park, the lighter haired one bringing a basket. When they reach the middle Hazel takes out a picnic blanket out of the basket and they both sit in it, starting the picnic. It went very well in their opinion. Melissa even got a kiss at the end of the date. It did not, however, please Emma to spot them as she went to class. Upset, she zones out while the professor is talking and has to ask her for help afterwards. Knowing she lives on their block, she goes to Paul's.

"Paul? I'm so sorry. I can't stay there with them. Can I crash at yours for a bit?"
Paul nods.
"Do you have what you need?"
She shakes her head and Paul drives her home to grab her things, spotting Melissa and Hazel as he does. Emma sets her stuff in the spare room opposite Paul's.

When Paul returns to work the next day, he notices that Melissa looks a lot happier, as do Charlotte and Ted. Bill looks well, which he is thankful for. After lunch, Melissa suggests getting some coffee from Beanies.
"My girlfriend works there."
Ted interrupts her.
"Your girlfriend slept with Paul the other night, You know?"
"Wait what?"
Melissa turns to Paul.
"Emma. She seemed comfort. We were both drunk."
Melissa relaxes.
"Er yeah. We had broken up that day. I'm talking about Hazel. But is Emma OK?"
Paul nods.
"She's staying with me. Just a bit upset. She saw you in the park. Doesn't want to see you often, hence she doesn't live at her house now."
Melissa nods. Bill also beams.
"Guys, I am actually dating someone new, too. Sylvia, from the top floor."
Paul smiles.
"Good for you Bill. I'm glad you are doing OK. Has she met Alice yet?"
Bill shakes his head.
"She's at her mother's. I have her this weekend though."
Everyone smiles and they grab coffee. Paul texts a quick warning to Emma, since she is also working today. Luckily, she isn't up at the front so she can hide out in the kitchen.
