“Run!” Gandalf shouted as we all scrambled in the other direction. Too soon did we find we were running towards a cliff.
“Up into the trees.” Gandalf commanded as I stabbed a Warg. Running towards a tree I swung up onto the first branch and then bounced from branch to branch until I was a safe distance up the tree.
“Impressive.” Muttered Kili as he balance on the branch next to me. I looked down to see Fili struggling to get up. Swinging myself back down, I helped Fili up to safety. The Wargs ceased their growling and turned as a White Warg, with a pale orc I took as Azog approached slowly. I could almost see the shock and hatred screaming from Thorin’s eyes.

Azog spoke couple of sentences in the black language of Mordor. Before making a command. All the Wargs started to jump at the trees and many of us scrambled up higher. The branch I stood on snapped as a Warg got its mouth around the end and I was forced to jump to the next branch.

Steady hands helped me catch my balance. Glancing up my eyes met sharp blue ones. Fili’ sharp blue eyes. I believe for a second, a slip second that I had finally realized why-
“Torien, Fili. You need to jump.” Kili shouted as he lunged from one tree to the next as our tree was uprooted. We jumped to the next tree and were relieved when it was able to withstand the brutal force of the Wargs.
“Fili!” Gandalf shouted tossing a pine-cone that was alight to him. Fili lit another before holding the first out to me.
“I cannot.” I said simply. “If I touch it the fire will die.” Fili gave me a weird look before tossing one to his brother. Soon enough flaming pine-cones fell from the trees and the cliff was alight with fire. I glanced down to see Bilbo swinging his sword at Azog as a last defence to save the unconscious Thorin.

I let my grip on the branch loosen as I drop to the ground in front of Azog and two other orcs. Spinning around my blades easily slice through the first of the three orc’s Wargs.
“Bilbo, get behind me.” I instructed as I slice the head of one of the orcs and in a swift movement I stabbed another Warg through the chest. One of the orcs lunged at me. Raising my blades to deflect his body no weight ever met my blades.
“The eagles are here.” Bilbo said as I saw the orc being dropped off the cliff. I turned to see an eagle pick Thorin’s half-conscious body up gently and fly off with him. They pushed trees down to the ground and grabbed Wargs with their Orc riders before dropping them off the cliff.

One flew towards us.
“No, no, no.” Bilbo hissed as it reached for him and picked him up. I ran towards the cliff. Trusting the eagles was one thing but trusting them enough to jump off the cliff was another.
“Why do you always find the most extreme way to complete set tasks.” Asked a voice behind me as I landed on the back of an eagle. I turned to find Fili sitting behind me. I just smiled.
