~Continued Flashback~
"Torien, I'm so sorry." Darwin gasped. One of the guard dragged him away as Legolas crouched down beside me. His hands were held out before him like he didn't know what to do.
"No, no, no." He whispered.
"Call for Elrond." Thranduil ordered as he too crouched down beside me. The blood continued to pool.
"This can't be happening." Legolas muttered in shock.
"I swear, I didn't mean to I-"But the voice was cut short as another body landed on the ground. I turned my head to find that Darwin was gone."What's happening?" Demanded Lenwee as the water from the jug on the table started to float up into the air. I turned to look at it in shock.
"You are her." Legolas stated in shock. "The elf of the prophecy."
"Where is she?" A voice demanded as another elf entered the tent. I could hear the sound of bows being fired, orcs being slayed from inside the tent.
"Torien." The person gasped in disbelief.
"Elrond. You need to heel her now. We cannot waste any time." Thranduil proclaimed.
"If it is true that Darwin did this then even if she does heel she won't be the same." Elrond replied.
"I will have the Lady Galadriel see to that." Thranduil stated as he stood to exit. He glanced over his shoulder to me before moving away.
"Thranduil." I called out. He didn't turn back as he walked away. "Thranduil, il thyal shipiya in le." I spat (Thranduil, don't you dare turn your back on me). He stopped mid step.
"Do not do this." I whispered knowing he was about to sacrifice everything for me.
"I have to Torien." He replied.
"You are like a father to me, I cannot loose that." I whispered.
"And to me you have always been a daughter." He replied a tear slowly trickling down his cheek. "In pramil le." He whispered before turning a leaving (I love you).~+~+~+~
"No." I gasped. "That can't be right." My breath came out in ragged gasps.
"The daughter of the Lord of Rivendell." The Woodland elf laughed when she saw me.
"I remember." I gasped. "I remember it all." I rambled on completely ignoring her.
It is not what it seems. A voice said, it was barely a whisper.
The memories are false. The voice continued.
"They're not." I replied aloud. "You took them from me, you took them from everyone." I stated.
I did it for the best. Lady Galadriel replied.
"He did it." I stated looking out at the fog. "It wasn't the King Thranduil, it was him."
A price is always needed in return for a change of memories. The King Thranduil risked both his reputation and isolation to insure that Darwin was remembered as a hero. That as the she-elf of the prophecy your judgement would not be clouded by the pain of memories. Galadriel explained.
"That still doesn't change what happened." I said simply.
Do not let the past, do not let Darwin's judgement deicide what you think of the young dwarf. Galadriel instructed. I closed my eyes. I was confused. And nothing, nothing would be able to fix it.Hello readers,
Name's Zoe. Usually I have an authors note posted before the 20th chapter but I guess here it is. Just wanted to let you guys know some things.a) That's it for Torien's flashbacks. There will be three more flashback scenes in the next two book parts. They will be two for Legolas and one for Thranduil. So get ready for that (I know flashbacks can be boring but those three are needed back-story and are actually exciting).
b) This is the end of the second part in the 4 part book. Next part is Towards the Future. And the fourth and final part will be called A Trail of Memories.
c) If you didn't read the two flashbacks in the last two chapters or the flashback in Chapter 16 then please do go back and read them in order. They are key parts in this book as they explain why and where the next two book parts will go in terms of character development and relationships.
If you have been enjoying the book then please remember to vote and/or comment. If you have any suggestions, likes/dislikes or just want to chat comment below.
Part III- Toward the Future
