Note- Arwen is only 700 years old in this story.
The dead bodies had long since started to pile up around the fighting forces. One young elf maiden wielding an Elvish blade and bow span around to shoot an arrow straight into the chest of an orc. The disgusting creature collapsed and the dwarf that had stood right in sword’s reach glanced around. His eyes met those of the elf maiden.
The elf closed his eyes, his long brown hair blew gently in the breeze that entered from the window. He looked down at the elf that lay on the bed a single tear trickling down his cheek.
A young elf girl ran through the gardens of Rivendell. She chased after a blue butterfly mesmerized by its beauty. A youthful elven lord stood watching the girl. The girl’s warm brown hair seemed to flow down her back.
The Elven Lord moved forward and the girl came to a stop before him. Reaching down he brushed her cheek softly with a smile.
The elf that lay on the flat elven bed before him had long brown hair. When he closed his eyes he could still see the young elf girl.
The elven maiden had grown in the last couple of years. To men she might have appeared as a teenager but to an elf she was still just a child. But an adventurous one you might add. She stood beside a river. Skimming stones she looked up at Rivendell to see her father watching from one of the balconies. He took a step closer to the rail as if he couldn’t believe what he saw.
The elf maiden turned around to see a fountain of water rise up from the river. Gasping she stumbled backwards into the dirt.
“Lord Elrond.” Said a hobbit quietly from the doorway. The elven lord turned to face him.
“Yes Bilbo, what can I do for you?” He asked.
“Who’s that?” Bilbo asked taking a step into the room so he could see the elf that lay on the bed.
“Her name is Torien.” Elrond explained.
“Bilbo.” Gandalf called as he entered the chamber. “I think it best we leave Lord Elrond.” He stated as he turned to exit.
“Gandalf.” Elrond called back. “Why does she not wake? Darwin’s great nephews are here, it was said she were to wake when Darwin’s Kin arrive in Rivendell.”
“I do not know.” Gandalf shock his head before leaving with Bilbo.~+~+~+~+~
It was the fourth day of the dwarves’ stay in Rivendell. They all sat in a circle around a small fire underneath a gazebo singing merrily and tossing food among each other as they told stories of battles. For they had decided that they were to supply their own breakfast as they had grown tired of the elven bread and fruit every morning. Bilbo walked into the small gazebo and all the talking stopped as all eyes turned to him.
“How can we help you master Baggins?” asked Balin.
“Well, you see…” Bilbo struggled to find words. “I was doing some research into the dwarvish history so I could understand the dwarves in my company a little more.” He proclaimed. “And I came across the tale of a dwarf called Darwin.”“Darwin was the very braves of our kind, he fought many a battle and is akin to some of us.” Thorin explained his eyes moving to Kili and Fili.
“He was our great uncle.” Fili explained. “But he never fought the battles alone. He was in company of an elf maiden. Stories say her hair was a warm soft brown and she had eyes blue as running water for that was the force she tamed. Her home was here, the house of Rivendell and when she was lost in battle her death was felt heavily by this house and it occupants.”
“Torien.” Bilbo breathed realising who the elf maiden he had seen sleeping was.
“What was that you said?” Thorin asked.
“Nothing.” Bilbo muttered before turning and jogging out of the gazebo leaving the dwarfs quite confused.~+~+~+~+~+~
The dwarfs ate and talked merrily. For many of the Elves a little too merrily.
“Kind of us to invite us to a meal yet again.” Gandalf remarked as he walked beside Elrond into the dining area. “Though I am not dressed for it.”
“You never are.” Elrond replied kindly with a smile as the two sat down at the far end of the table. As the meal progressed Gandalf started to notice how quiet Lord Elrond had been upon this meal. He thought back to earlier that day when he realised it was Elrond’s sleeping daughter, Torien’s 1500th birthday. Even after 800 years of waiting for her to wake he still hadn’t given up hope for his daughter.
“Lord Elrond, I-“Gandalf started but stopped himself as Elrond stood from his seat. The chair scrapping across the floor which caught the attention of many of the dwarfs. They looked at him then followed his gaze to the door when an elven maiden with long straight hair brown hair stood. Her eyes shone blue, reflecting the bright sky above.“You must learn to control it.” The Elven Lord explained to his frightened daughter.
“Why me?” The she-elf questioned.
“Because you were chosen.” The lord replied. “Before you were born you were chosen. One day fire will rain from the sky and water shall rise from the ground. You must defend the people of middle earth when this day comes. You must command the water of the sea, lake and river.”Elrond moved around the table slowly with the greatest amount of caution as though a ghost stood before him.
“Torien?” He asked hesitantly.
“Father.” Torien breathed in reply before the pair embraced each other.
