After a few breems of walking around and Knockout showing the newcomer about the outpost, they ended the tour in the cabin hallway.
"Aaand that's the HQ." The Velocitronian said, sighing.
He dusted off his servos as a job-well-done. Optimus only felt tiredness — as one should — and his pedes were sore. It was also late, as his chronometer indicated, and he assumed that all the other Cybertronian animals have gone into recharge at this point. He wondered if the Decepticons, too, were recharging, or if their tyrannical leader forced them to stay awake to the point of near-deactivation just to ensure that they were keeping their territories.
"I'll comm Zeta and ask for your cabin." The cherry-red Velocitronian said, yawning into a servo.
"No need, Knockout." A voice echoed down the hall.
The two Autobots turned around, seeing a silhouette in the partially-dark hallway. The Autobot leaned against a wall, arms crossed and optics narrowed at them. When the two turned towards him, he straightened and took long strides towards the two. Under one of the dimmed overhead lights, Optimus could see a familiar figure — tall, white armor, dull azure optics, and wings — looking down at him, then his gaze shifting to Knockout.
"Sorry I scared you, Knockout." He said, the corners of his dermaplates tugging into a small smirk.
"By Primus, Jetfire!" The cherry-red Velocitronian hissed, optics narrowed, "Not funny! You fliers are sick!"
"Stop overreacting." Jetfire said, rolling his optics, "I think you should run off before you chip your digits."
Knockout growled, flexing his clawed digits. He didn't say anything else, however, taking Jetfire's "advice" and stomping away. He went to one of the doors towards the end of the hall, resting his servo on a pad outside of it. It beeped, the door sliding open for him, and he marched inside, immediately blowing up about the flier as the door closed behind him. The noise died down, and Optimus looked over at the taller.
"So, uhm, nice to meet you, Jetfire." He said, not knowing what else to say, "I'm Optimus."
"I know who you are. Zeta won't shut up about you." He hissed.
Optimus was taken aback by this, falling silent. He looked straight into Jetfire's dull optics, the flier immediately looking away when he did so. Something about those dull optics was strangely familiar. It was like they had once been filled with determination and eagerness, but time made sure to pollute his circuits with anger.
Stupid damaged memory banks! He thought, angry at himself, even though it couldn't be helped.
"Anyways, I got the info from Prime. You're bunking with me and a few others." Jetfire said.
"Well, uh, thank you." Optimus said with a small nod.
The flier nodded back. He turned, walking down the hall to where the new Autobot assumed was their cabin. The red and blue Cybertronian followed, having to speed-walk to catch up. Jetfire stopped in front of a door, resting his servo on an identical pad from the one that was by Knockout's cabin. The pad turned green, followed by a small beep and sliding open. Light poured into the hallway, alongside the sounds of clashing metal and laughter. The flier grumbled about younglings, and he looked over at Optimus.
"Prepare yourself, Trion's student." He said.
The red and blue Cybertronian only nodded, confused by what he meant. Jetfire walked inside, Optimus following. As soon as he was inside the cabin, the door shut behind him with a small hiss, making the new Autobot flinch. He saw that the room was fairly large, with four bunk-berths — two evenly spaced along opposing walls — and a door at the back that may be a shower room, though Optimus didn't know. Towards the back of the room was two young Cybertronians (one was yellow and black, and the other was silver) wrestling. The bunk-berth immediately to his right held a single Cybertronian, who was reading through a datapad. She was a sky-blue flier with white chestplate markings and yellow optics. The back left berth had a red and black Cybertronian in it, watching the two roughhousers.
