Elita and her team were preparing for their mission. She cleaned her blaster, putting it back together and packing it full of ammo, then holstered it and moved on to her pistol. The mission weighed on her processor like a hundred tons of metal on her shoulder-pads, Zeta's emphasis on the importance of it not helping. Chromia was by her side, prepping her own weapons. She was finishing checking and cleaning a pair of Camian daggers. She sheathed them at her hips and looked up at the commander, her stoic expression morphing into concern. She rested a servo on the other's shoulder-pad, the reddish-orange Autobot turning her helm to look at her lieutenant.
"Everything all right, Commander?" Chromia asked.
"I'm fine." Elita said, taking a deep breath, "It's just been a while since I've led a mission."
"Prime isn't helping, either." The light blue Camian said.
The Spy-Unit commander nodding in agreeance. They went back to preparing their weapons. They were ready to depart after only a few cycles. Elita holstered her backup pistol, then taking his blaster. She cocked it, resting it on her shoulder-pad, and raised two digits to her comm and spoke to Ultra Magnus.
"Commander, we're ready to depart." She said.
"You may proceed." Ultra Magnus said.
"Copy."
Elita looked around the room, seeing all of the soldiers under her command. Mirage, Chromia, Moonracer, Equinox, Arcee, and Warpath. There weren't many Autobots here, but if they were to be gunned down, so much life would be lost. She shook her helm, and took a deep breath to calm down.
"Autobots!" She exclaimed, addressing the team, "Let's roll!"
The team started their way out of Autobot HQ, to the Crystal City tunnel hatch, and climbed inside. The first to climb down was Chromia and Warpath to give the others the all clear, then the rest climbed down, Elita being last. Once in the darkness of the tunnel, they kept a tight grip on their blasters, night vision on, and slowly made their way towards the city.
"Wow, Predacons did this?" Moonracer asked, brushing a servo against the deep scratch marks in the wall.
"Yeah. I wouldn't have believed it myself if I didn't seen the things." Chromia said, glancing back at the younger Autobot, "C'mon, Moon."
The cyan Camian looked back at the group and lightly jogged to catch up. Elita's optics darted around to look inside the various branching tunnels, looking for the narrowed optics and bared denta of Predacons. Thankfully, she didn't find any. As they neared the entrance into Crystal City, the group slowed significantly. They didn't want to attract the attention of Predacons while they were still underground. Elita signaled for them to stop, and that she'd go up to check the surface. Chromia nodded, clutching her blaster tightly and keeping the rest of the team behind her. The commander padded forward, holstering her blaster, and started to climb.
Once at the top, Elita slowly pushed open the hatch, and peeked outside. She glanced around the surface, senses heightened. She didn't see anything, so she looked down at Crhomia and nodded. Chromia quietly instructed the Autobot behind her to start climbing as the commander hoisted herself onto the surface. She looked around, blaster upholstered again, eyeing the tops of every building for the foul creatures. She would look at the hatch as another Autobot emerged, doing a helm-count to be sure they didn't leave anyone behind. Warpath, Moonracer, Mirage, Arcee, Equinox, and finally, Chromia. Once everyone was through, the last Autobot closed the hatch, then looked to her commander and nodded.
"Remember the plan." The reddish-orange Autobot said, voice quiet, "We have to flank the Decepticons and knock them out. Only kill if necessary."
The group nodded. She turned, and started leading them toward the Decepticon post. They were doing well so far -- they had reached Crystal City, not encountered any Predacons or Decepticons -- and Elita was confident that they'd complete the mission without any problems. That is, until they heard the flap of wings above them. The Autobots froze.
