"RUN!"

Optimus leapt down from the ladder, the impact of the ground hitting his pedes sending his balance awry. He stumbled, but the adrenaline pumping through his circuits helped him to correct himself, and he started running down the tunnel. Elita ran as soon as Optimus regained balance, the call of dozens of creatures chasing after the two Autobots. Beating wings sounded from above, landing harshly and tearing at the metal ground to get to where its meal was cowering. Branching tunnels suddenly filled with roars and hisses and shrieks, the creatures clawing their way through feverishly, stomping on each other just to be the one to slaughter its prey.

One poked its helm out, purple optics locking onto Optimus's larger form. It screeched, alerting its brethren, who responding with more identical cries. The Autobot pushed himself into the air, twisting around to deliver a heavy backwards roundhouse kick to its muzzle. It shrieked, Optimus swearing that it would shatter his audio receptors, and ducked its helm back into the tunnel. He landed on the ground smoothly enough to continue in his sprint towards survival.

"I contacted HQ. Chromia and Warpath are on their way!" Elita told Optimus as they continued running.

The red and blue Autobot nodded. He looked back ahead, skidding to a stop upon seeing more of those creatures clambering down the tunnel in front of them.

"They're everywhere!" He yelled.

Elita quickly lifted her blaster, firing upon the creatures' paws, which forced them back. The larger Autobot sent his own warning shots, firing close to their helms and chestplates. He spun around in a circle, seeing almost a hundred of the creatures close to them.

"What are these things?" Optimus asked, glancing back at Elita.

The commander flipped her blaster around, holding it by its muzzle and whacking those who dared venture too close, causing them to shriek and fall back with broken armor, optics, and dentas.

"Stay back, fragger!" She yelled, then looking back at the larger Autobot, "Predacons. Huge beasts that eat Cybertronians."

Optimus's optics widened, but he just looked back ahead and continued firing. She swung another hard swing at a short Predacon, creating a reverberating CRACK from the impact. It screeched, falling back, only to be replaced by two more.

"Elita! Elita, do you copy?" A voice yelled through the comms.

"I copy, Chromia. What's your ETA?" Elita asked, backing up as the creatures slowly approached.

They had slowed down in their attack, almost as if they were holding back their animalistic urges. Optimus was confused, backing up slowly. He bumped into Elita, who continued to communicate with Chromia. She heard the unseen Autobot say they would arrive in ten cycles.

"That isn't enough time." Optimus stated, voice quiet.

"Then we meet them halfway." The reddish-orange Autobot whispered back, looking back at the larger, "On my signal, run like Unicron's at your pedes."

Optimus nodded, though she couldn't see the movement of his helm. The Predacons had stopped advancing towards them, creating a circle of space between them and their prey. They would hiss and snarl, glaring optics searing into their forms, but wouldn't approach.

"What are they doing?" Optimus asked, keeping his blaster in his servos.

"I have no idea." The shorter replied.

Just then, there was a terrifying roar that echoed down the tunnel. The ground beneath the Autobots shook, fear coursing through their circuits. Optimus looked down both sides of the tunnel, optics widening when he looked down the one they had just ran through. A huge Predacon stomped down the tunnel, helm scrapping against the ceiling with its height. It was a dark green color, with a golden crown-like crest over his faceplates and a pointed black gem at the top-center. It stopped, releasing a chilling growl as it glared at the smaller ones. They stepped out of the way, helms low in a bow, and the creature stepped closer to the Autobots. It stopped, staring down the Cybertronians through glowing yellow optics. It opened its maw in a low hiss, brandishing its sharp dentas. Optimus couldn't keep his fear at bay, optics wide. He swore that it could smell his fear, and he was proven correct as the creature made a sound that sounded vaguely like a chuckle. Then, it did something that surprised him and Elita.
