Sky Lynx had been flying over Crystal City for a long time (four breems and fifteen cycles, by his count), wings hurting and optics threatening to shudder. He yawned loudly, then looked around for an abandoned nest or perch to rest on. He spotted one not too far away, and he swooped down so he could land. Once he was close, he reared up and flapped his wings to slow down, then lightly landed on the perch. He sat down, folding his wings, and sighed. The Predacon looked up at the starry sky, searching for the two Cybertronian moons. He found them quickly, and made a noise that sounded like a sad mrrw, his pale-yellow optics dimming sadly. There was a static noise in his audio receptor, causing him to wince, a voice crackling through.
"Sky Lynx, how are the skies looking?" Elita's voice came through the comms.
"Clear. I have not seen any Predacons and only two Decepticon patrols, though they are on the other side of the city." He said.
"That's good." The commander said, "Come back. We're making our move."
"I will return shortly." He said.
No voice came back to him. He looked back up at the moons, sitting for a moment longer, then stood and quickly took off from the perch. He flew through the sky to return to the Autobots. When he was close, he could hear pedes tapping on the ground. As he got closer, even in the almost pitch-darkness, he could see the Autobot team walking along the barren land. The Predacon circled above them momentarily, searching for Elita. He spotted her at the front, blaster in both servos. He dived down, leveling out when close to the ground. He could feel her gaze on him as he came closer. He dived down again, landing on the ground in front of the Autobot commander. He folded his wings, tail swished calmly from one side to the other. The Autobots stopped behind their commander.
"Glad to see you back unscathed, Sky Lynx." Elita said, smiling.
"I was one of the most skilled fliers amongst my clan. You do not need to worry." The Predacon said.
"That's a much needed advantage for us." The Camian said, "I want you to scout ahead and tell us what you find. We'll be behind you."
Sky Lynx nodded. He turned away from the Autobots, and took off into the sky with a powerful flap of his wings. He rocketed upwards, leveling out once he deemed he was high enough. He swooped downwards some until he could see everything clearly. He flew in the direction of the outpost. It didn't take him long to find it. He counted at least a dozen Decepticons on the ground, each holding a weapon, and he saw some Cybertronian machinery and a transparent purple shield with a hexagonal pattern on it, facing out towards the empty land.
"Elita, I count about twelve Decepticons below. There also appears to be a protective shield, but it will not hinder your abilities." Sky Lynx reported.
"Good. We'll get into position." Elita's voice crackled, "Don't attack unless we need you. We don't wanna kill if it's unneeded."
I'm not that destructive. The Predacon thought, now circling over the outpost.
It was quiet from in the air, and he was starting to become bored just flying in circles. He looked down at the Decepticons, and they seemed oblivious to the Predacon hovering over them.
"We're in position." Elita's voice came through suddenly, causing Sky Lynx to falter in his flight, "You'll be there if we need you, right?"
"Yes." The Predacon said simply.
The comms went quiet. He flew downwards to get a better look at the situation that would unfold. He could barely see the Autobots below him. They were merely small dots of color to him, even then it was hard to see them. It was still for a while, and Sky Lynx would've thought the world was on pause if the Decepticons weren't moving. Suddenly, the Autobots moved, jumping the enemy. They aligned their blasters with the legs and shoulders of the Decepticons, never aiming to kill. Once they were done with the assault, he dived down to meet them, landing outside of the outpost and padding towards the Cybertronians. The Decepticons were huddled together, some down on one knee or completely fallen down from their injuries. Energon leaked from their wounds, but none of them were fatal.
