I guess this is as warm as I'm going to get.
At this point, I have been using my Firebending to warm myself up for... I don't even know how long. There isn't anything to keep time with and I'm this close to going insane from the sound of dripping water above me.
I've only been able to keep my chest, stomach, and legs warm, but my hands are still bound behind me. At this point, I can't even feel them anymore.
"Okay, Y/N, it's now or never."
I pull at my restraints and felt for the bits of metal inside the iron chains. I close my eyes and pull as hard as I can against the chains, hoping that it would be enough. I'm wrong.
"Okay, change of plan," I whisper, maneuvering myself so that I'm sitting behind the bolt that's keeping me chained to the ground. The chain ran between my legs and was short enough that I could barely go into a horse stance.
I was able to get to my feet, somehow, and squat as low as I can. I focused on the metal through the chain and into the ground before putting all of my remaining strength into standing up.
I hiss in pain as the slash across my chest aches and my arms are pulled back by the chain, but the bolt did move a bit.
"If only I could Waterbend right now," I huff. I can't Waterbend because I won't be able to use my feet or arms. My hands are bound behind my back and I can't slip on the ice if I want to stay concentrated.
But you can fucking Firebend, L/N!
I groaned at my own stupidity and took a deep breath, preparing the fire within. I blew fire onto the area around the bolt and watched as some of the ice melted before starting to freeze again. I need to stand up just after I breathe out more fire.
"Okay, one more time," I tell myself, groaning from moving too much.
I squat down again and blow fire onto the bolt. As soon as I let out the last bit, I stood up as fast as I could and was able to pull the bolt out of the ice.
"Yes!" I shout before clamping my mouth shut, not wanting anyone out the door to hear.
After a moment of silence, I take a step towards the cage's bars. It is agonizing as the bottoms of my feet are practically being ripped off because of the ice combined with my bare feet. Still, I made it to the iron bars closest to the exit.
This is going to be a little harder...
I left one of my legs and kick at the iron bars, bending it a little. That little bend is what I focus on to keep going. So I raise my leg again and keep kicking at the bars as they bend under my foot. Eventually, the bars give away and break completely, letting me step through a pretty big hole if I do say so myself.
My hands are bound behind me, my feet are blue, and I'm certainly not dressed for this cold. This is going to hurt.
Slowly, I step forward and out of the cell. Looking around, I try to see if there's anything for me to use to get the chains off my wrists. I smirk as I notice a key hanging on the far wall, right next to the door.
How overly confident are these people?
I walk over to the key, wincing in pain as the skin on the bottom of my feet is taken off from the ice. Shivering, I turn around and pull the key off of the hook when I finally get to it.
I fumble with the key in my stiff hands as I try to get it in the lock. It's even more difficult considering that my fingers feel frozen solid. Eventually, the key does go into the lock and I'm able to turn it enough to make the chains fall.
