Chapter 23

"Babalik na tayo ng Manila, Bella," salubong sa akin ni Kuya. Grabe ah!

"Kababalik lang natin. Uuwi na tayo agad. Sayang gas, oy!" Anong ipinunta ko rito? Para makitang magtalo iyong dalawa na mahal pa ang isa't isa? Please, I rather eat okra.

"Oo kaya dalian mo na." Tumakbo naman ako at inempake lahat ng mga gamit ko. Umiiyak ako habang nag-eempake, parang tanga lang. Bigla namang bumuks ang pinto ng kuwarto ko.

"I got assigned as the Defense Counsel ni Tito." Bigla ko siyang nilingon. What the f*ck?

"What?! Don't you dare defend him." I looked at him with blood shot eyes.

"It's under on our oath, Bella," he argued. Nangunot ang noo ko.

"You're a corporate lawyer. How the hell you became a criminal lawyer?"

"I already shifted last week, Bella." He looked straight in to my eyes.

"You didn't tell me about that, ha?" I said while closing my luggage.

I put the luggage in my trunk and headed straight to the driver's seat.

I'm also afraid, napakabilis ko magpatakbo. 70 km/ph.

"Please lang, Bella. Alam kong galit ka. Huwag mo namang taasan ang 'yong gas, oh." He looked irritated.

"I'm going to Baguio," maikling sabi ko

"Ha?!"

"After graduation," maikling sabi ko. Mukhang nagulat siya. Yeah, I never planned na pupunta akong Baguio para mag-aral.

Gabi na kami naka-uwi at si Kuya ay dumiretso agad sa kuwarto.

"Tara nomi," I chatted my friends sa groupchat naming.

"Girl, miyerkules na miyerkules, ah," pag-angal ni Joanna.

"Wala akong pake," reply ko sa kanya.

"Libre mo?" tanong naman ni Bri. Hayop na ito!

"Oo," sagot ko.

"On my way!" Nathalie chatted. Dios ko, ang mga babaeng ito.

Hindi naman nagtagal ay may mga narinig na kong kumatok sa pinto. Sinalubong nila ako ng yakap.

"You'll be fine. Malakas ka, 'di ba?" Nat whispered to me. God, ayokong umiyak. Naglabas na ako ng alak. Nakakaapat na shots pa lang ako, gusto ko na lang sumigaw. So, I did.

"P*tang*na! F*cking cheaters!" I sobbed and sobbed. Nagulat naman iyong tatlo. Bigla ulit nila akong niyakap. "Hindi naman ako nagkulang, 'di ba?"

"Shh. You're enough," Bri whispered.

"Lasing na 'yan?" tanong ni Jonna.

"Hindi, tignan mo. May itatanong ako about Statcon." Nat was concerned. "A statutory definition of a term includes a general rule and an exception thereto, is amended by deleting the exception. Will the term now include the exception to the scope of the general rule? Why?" Bumalik sa katinuan iyong utak ako.

"Yes. It will include the exception to the scope of the general rule because the legislative intent is clear that the term should now be exempted whithin the scope of the general rule."

"P*ta na 'yan! Hindi ko nga nakabisado 'yan," pagreklamo ni Jonna.

"Sige na. You guys can go home. Papasok na ako bukas, ha! Thank you for accompanying me. Love you all!" I gave them a kissed on the cheek.

They bid their goodbye and walked away. Naglilinis ako ng cups kasi baka magalit si Kuya kapag nakita niya ito.

"Uminom ka pala, hindi mo ako niyaya." Lumabas si Kuya sa kuwarto.

"Yeah."

"Pupunta ako sa baba bibiling toothbrush. Wala na tayo, eh." He got his jacket and went down. "Hintayin mo ako. Iinom tayong dalawa." He laughed. I laughed also.

I was finding more beer in the mini bar we had hanggang may kumatok sa pinto. In to my horror, I saw Sean standing in front of the door, looking tired.

"Baby, let's talk," mariing sabi niya at hinawakan ang braso ko.

"There's nothing to talk about, Sean." I looked at him with a straight face.

"All Ash said was a lie," he begged.

"Fucking liar! I saw you on the garden arguing with her and saying you love her! Tama na, Sean! Kung masaya ka na kay Ash, huwag mo na akong pakialamanan pa!" My voice was just pure of pain and sadness. He was just taking all my words.

"Go ahead, curse me. Hurt me. I deserve it." Tears were forming in his eyes.

"And you think I have all the strength to do that to you?! I love you so f*cking much! Hindi ako kagaya mo na nilaro lang ako, Sean. Huwag kang magpakatanga." I was sobbing.

"You were to harsh, Bella!"

"At saan ka pa kumuha ng kapal ng mukha para sabihin 'yan?!" Dinadaga ang puso sa mga sinasabi ko. "All I ever did was to love you. Saan ako nagkamali?" I asked him. "Ah... oo nga pala. I didn't allow you to touch my body. Sorry, nawalan ka ng sex life," mapait kong sabi.

"Love, it wasn't like that." He looked at me with a slight hope.

"It is! I overheard Ash voice! Sex ang habol niyo sa isa't isa!" I shouted.

"You always just see one side, Bella."

"I was asking about Ash, last year. Hindi ko na itinuloy because I trusted you!" I said with anger.

"And I was just to answer. It was me!" he also shouted. Medyo nagulat ako, he never shouted at me before. I got the ring he gave me and I gave it back to him.

"Ayan, ibigay mo kay Ash." He was just crying. "We're done. You f*cking betrayed me and said you love me. Those were you words, Sean!" maikling ani ko with a straightface. "I have nothing to do with you. So, please. Leave!"

"Don't be like this, please," he begged.

"The moment you were with Ash, you already lost me remember that."

Starting today, I need to forget what's gone. Appreciate what still remains and look forward to what's coming next and still have to attain my title, Attorney Issabella louisse Montemayor.
