Chapter 5
"Let me walk you back home?"
"Are you sure it's freezing by now" he smiled and let his body warm mine "I am pretty sure" we walked beside each other covered with a jacket still soaking as I felt my shoes get heavy from the water, my socks drenching pulling up goosebumps over my legs, I looked at him and was turning pale with the cold. I felt bad for him having to go through this. I took the jacket out his hands and put most of it on him "No you're going to get cold"
"I am good today I give you the bigger half" I giggled as he gave me a concerned look
"I'm not asking Del" he placed it back on me and I stood there and shaked my head "No" I put it back on him and dragged him to the apartment quickly
"I love the rain" I smiled at him "Do you?" He nodded agreeing with me
"It just feels so special, I wanna dance all my dances in the rain" I looked at him
"With?" He narrowed his eyes at me
"Haven't found him yet" I bit my lip feeling a gush of heat coming up my cheeks
"Maybe he is close by?" "Maybe" I smiled looking away to see my apartment building in front of me
"This is me" I pointed out and he nodded
Looking at him cold and soaked I wanted to invite him in to dry off but would it offend him? Is it a bad move? I don't know how to feel about it. Go with your gut Delilah.
"Um...do you want to come in? You can dry off I can reheat the coffees for us?" I asked trusting my intuition
"It's alright I'll just call a cab and get home I should be good"
"The rain is only getting worse you bought me this that's the least I can do?" I frowned as my heart skipped a beat
He nodded with a nervous look on his face and I moved aside walking into the building. "Del" he whispered and I looked back at him. His hands numb, color pale, he was turning blue. "Okay we need to get you warm before you get sick" I rushed into the elevator with him taking him back inside. "I can get you some dry cloths, you can use the washroom. I'll turn on the fireplace" I smiled as he enters the apartment taking off his shoes. "Nice apartment" he said "not mine" I huffed and I showed him the washroom. He locked the door behind him and I ran into my room to get him something warm. "What do I get him? I could just put his cloths in the dryer? But it would take longer" I rummaged through my closet like I would find something but I don't know. I looked for the largest hoodie I owned. I picked out one of the extra sweats I carried of Dad's before leaving. His cloths are cozy I couldn't help but steal some of his things. I knocked on the bathroom door and hanged the cloths outside.
"Coffee?" I asked myself. Delilah there is a man in your washroom. You know his first name that's all. You've a man in your APARTMENT. But he is cute. "Shutup for all we know he could be a serial killer, but he would've killed me by now right? Why buy me coffee?" I questioned myself while making fresh cups of coffee. "Well does your hoodie look nice on me or what?" I heard his deep voice come from behind me melting my heart. I turned around to see his body hidden behind the baggy clothing "I say it was meant for you" I smiled as I handed him a cup of coffee "it's hot be careful" he nodded looking around the apartment "so what did you mean by this apartment not being yours" he asked sipping on the coffee and nodding impressed with the taste "it's by a friend of my Dad's I have it until I guess the end of uni?" I told him and he nodded looking at me. "So can I ask you something?"
"You're going to either way aren't you?" He laughed and I giggled saying a yes
"What made you stay here for so long? Don't meetings end in a day or two or maybe three?" I asked him even though I knew he came here for his work but I searched for answers to questions I couldn't even find
"It's complicated Delilah"
"I've got all night" I smiled leaning back on my chair
"I'm stuck with someone I don't love" he looked at me with miserable eyes
"Your girlfriend?" He ignored my words and looked outside the window "How about you tell me a bit about yourself before we jumped onto things?" He asked. Fair enough
"Well you know my name I came here to study law, it was either this or Osgoode Hall. Harvard is something I set my heart on a few years ago. I really suck at intros but I am not an average nerd I do have fun" I laughed nervously at my stupid intro
"What's your favourite color?"
"I don't know really. It might be black or blue or purple or I don't know there are so many I don't know which one to choose"
"You're picky" he smiled
"Not really come on" I put a hand over my mouth
"Tell me about you what do you like doing? What's your passion? What drives you to wake up in the mornings or what is something that makes you happy and jump in laughter" I blabbered and he stayed quiet
His silence said a lot like he was struggling not happy with the way he was living everyday. His eyes were numb, tired wanting to understand him. I sat there and read his silence. "Are you alright?"
"Yes there's a lot about me that drives me to wake up in the mornings, the right person makes me happy, the right amount of passion with my desires makes me happy " he said giving me a hesitant look
"Ian"
"I am stuck between trains Delilah I don't know which one to get on. One calls me home and one sends me here."
"Why does it send you here?" His eyes looked up slowly at me and I grew impatient. "Just work"
Just work! I could tell he has never opened up before. He hasn't been loved the way he wanted to be. He needed to be held and I couldn't do that for him. He needed to be heard understood.
"If you need to talk you can always open up to me. You can trust me" I reassured him
"You know what let me cheer you up" I said as I got up signalling him to stand up with me. We walked over to my balcony and stood by the railing. Look over there do you see the clock tower I pointed and he nodded. "There is this old lady with dementia who comes exactly at this time, she sits on the bench under it right there" I pointed as I showed it to him "She waits for her lover" I grinned and he shot me a look "seriously?"
"No she is actually a hooker if you need one" I pinched his shoulder throwing my head back "you're so lame"
"Yet you're still laughing"
"Okay so see that man standing there?" I pointed at a man with a big bowl of jelly in suspenders "He mimes"
"Mimes like mime mime"
"What is that supposed to mean?" I laughed holding onto the sides letting out my ugliest laugh. I SNORTED!
"YO-
He broke into fits of laughter, tears filling his eyes as he laughed at my snorts. His laugh was contagious it could ruin a million hearts in love. He laughed throwing his head back and pointing his finger at me.
"That's your actual laugh"
"NO ITS NOT" I screamed and laughed at him
"You're doing it again"
"STOPPP" I laughed hiding my face behind my hands as he laughed. I watched him laugh making me tear up in happiness.
"Thankyou"
"Shhh no thank you's" I smiled at him
"Maybe we can have another sorrow night"
"Only if we get fries" I said and he nodded smiling at me
"I should get going, I'll see you soon though" he smiled walking towards the door
"And we can fix my train" I laughed at how inappropriate that sounded
"Dirty mind" he poked me while I watched him walk out in the hallway
"Text me Delilah" he screamed as he got into the elevator
"But I don't have your number" I said as soon as the door was closing. He winked at me and he was gone. Closed behind those doors. "HOW DO I TEXT HIM" I screamed at myself and walked back into the apartment
"AHHH HOW" I walked into the kitchen clearing things out of the way when my phone rang. "MAYBE HE LEFT HIS NUMBER ON MY PHONE" I ran hitting my toe on the edge of the bed "bitch" I cried running to my phone looking at the caller "ADE I THOUGHT IT WAS SOMEONE ELSE"
"WHO DO YOU HAVE A MAN?"
"Shut up" I groaned sitting on the floor
"What's wrong?"
"I met him" I smiled through the phone
"WHO"
"He is gone now" I sighed
"Please get married"
"Shut up I am having feelings for a taken man I have to stop"
"Or maybe we break them up" I looked at the screen and rolled my eyes
"You always fall for the wrong people"
"I didn't fall for anyone I just...Ade everytime I look at him this instant shot of happiness appear. These butterflies, these turns in me. He feels so different"
"Please don't fall in love"
"I am not" I got off the floor and walked towards the table I wiped out the table cleaning coffee stains. "He didn't even leave me his number. Like how am I supposed to text you" I moved around the cup with a smile on it "He did not" I said as I picked up the napkin beside it "ADE HE DID NOT" I turned around the napkin with the one thing I needed to see "thought you might need this to text me" He left me his number
"ADE HE LEFT ME HIS DAMN NUMBER" I screamed as I jumped up and down "HOLY SHIT I AM GONNA PASS OUT"
"TEXT HIM RIGHT NOW"
"But Ade"
"Shut up his girlfriend will survive just do it"
"It's not right"
"Come on he wants to get out of it himself"
"No"
"Be his friend"
"No I don't want to be the friend every girl worries about"
"You're going to be either way just do it"
"No"
"DO IT"
"NO"
"You're so stubborn"
"Shut up"
"Look he is going to run into you either way do it"
"I am going to sleep I'll call you tomorrow"
"NO DO IT"
"Shut up I love you bye" before she could say something else I cut the call
Please don't do this
I got into my blanket and snuggled into it left with a feeling of "I don't know what I feel, just text him as a friend it won't hurt anyone! But I am having...no. Just do it"
I picked up my phone and started typing "WHAT DO I TEXT"
"Goodnight? Hey you're awesome? You're nice." I groaned putting my phone back down
Nope can't do this
I picked it back up "You give me butterflies"
*dies*
"Hey stranger hope you're feeling better. Del :)" and send
"I hate you Ade" I sighed as I kept my phone aside and falling asleep in embarrassmentIan's pov
I walked into the hotel room with the biggest smile on my face. "Someone looks happy did you get some?" I saw Nathan come out the corner
"Seems like you got some" I laughed at his red face and he looked down at his feet
"Cheers man I will see you in the morning" I walked into the room and took my shoes. I looked at myself in the mirror and took off the hoodie. I put it against my chest hugging it. It smelled like her, she smelled like I couldn't put quiet a finger on it but it was subtle like a field of flowers. I smiled as I put the hoodie back on and laid down in bed. I laid there with flashbacks, why couldn't I open up to her? Why couldn't I tell her? She needs to know? Before that I need to let go off Chloe. This isn't me. I sighed getting lost into my thoughts when a loud thud was heard from outside the door. I stood up and loud knocks were heard. I opened the door to a hyperventilating Nathan "what's wrong?" I took him inside giving him a glass of water. He sat down on the edge of the bed "you must go back immediately, it's Ms Chloe she is in the hospital"Fuck
