Feyre's POV

I was inexplicably drawn to one painting in particular, 'First taste at freedom' it was called. The painting was beautiful but it didn't depict anything important, at least it didn't look like it did. I must have been looking at it for a while because Gabriel walked over to me. "It is beautiful isn't it? This one is my favorite." He said.

"Yes it is. But I don't understand, why is this one here, why are all of them here? The first one I understand, as well as the third one, but the other two." I mused out loud.

"They show the start of something very important to our world's fate. They show the start of two friendships that had a role in saving our world. The golden haired girl in all of them is Celaena Sardothien, now known as Aelin Galathynius. The brown haired girl is Yrene Towers, now Yrene Westfall. The girl with wine red hair is Ansel of Briarcliff. And the boy, he is Sam Cortland." Gabriel told me. We stood there for a bit just looking at the painting before he turned on his heel and moved onto the next room. We followed after him.

This new room had more paintings, these were of both people and events. There was a painting specifically that I liked, it was a portrait of a beautiful woman, 'The light of Eyllwe' it was called.

"One year, Celaena Sardothien was in Endovier for one year, before she was taken out by Captain Chaol Westfall, and Prince Dorian Havilliard. Her purpose; to compete in a competition as the prince's champion, if she won she would become the King's champion, she'd sign a contract to work for him, and after four years she would get her freedom, her name would be cleared, and she'd be able to go wherever she wished. Each champion had a sponsor and their sponsor would take care of them, in a manner of speaking. Celaena's was the prince Dorian.

She was to go up against 23 other champions;

Cain, a soldier from the king's army. He hailed from the White fang mountains.

Xavier Forul, was Master Thief of Melisande.

Nox Owen, a thief from Perranth.

Bill Chastain, was The eye eater.

Ned Clement, was The Scythe

Grave, was an assassin.

Pelor, a young assassin.

Sven, was a mercenary.

Verin Ysslych, was an assassin.

Renault, was a seasoned soldier.

Four other assassins

Two mercenaries.

Two other thieves.

And

Five other seasoned soldiers."

Was, hailed. Gabriel spoke of some of these men in the past tense and others and in the present tense. Did some die? If so, how many? I raised my hand to get his attention.
