It was being another long night for Nike especially because one of her colleagues had gotten sick, so she was alone at the bar with Lyra.

'Do you think Noko will be good soon?' Lyra asked.

'I hope so,' Nike replied before leaving the counter to serve a drink to a client sitting at the sofas on the opposite corner of the bar.

The middle-aged man was a regular customer that was already familiarized with Ember and liked her company. When the firebender arrived at his table with his drink, he asked her to sit down next to him.

'I see your colleague isn't here today,' he commented.

'She is sick with a fever or something. I hope she gets well soon,' she smiled lightly.

'Did she go to a healer?' the man asked.

'She doesn't like healers nor benders,' Nike informed.

'How I understand her! Fortunately, we have the Amon and the Equalists!' he said happily. 'The worst part is that I am now sponsoring one of those pro-bending teams.'

Nike's expression changed to a confused one.

'Oh, don't worry, Ember, I'm not on their side,' he explained trying to calm the female. 'I hate that sport. But I am happy that the team with that blue flame bender freak didn't make it...'

'Do you think she cheated to create those flames?' the firebender played her role and pretended to be unaware of what was happening in the pro-bending world.

'Yes,' the man said with determination. 'Another one like those benders from the Wolfbats. Too bad, the newspapers weren't able to get a photo of her.'

'Well, the conversation is getting interesting, but Lyra's been alone at the bar for some time now,' the female said. 'I should help her.'

The man smiled and she smiled back before getting up. She walked to the counter where her colleague was and began helping her with some drinks immediately.

'I might arrive a little late tomorrow,' Nike said while she put some ice in a glass.

'Alright,' Lyra said. 'Just try to be here before eleven.'

'Don't worry,' Nike smiled.

'Where are you going, Ember?'

'Nowhere special,' Nike hid the truth from her colleague.

She was going to meet with a pro-bending team captain, but Lyra didn't know she was a bender, so she didn't share her real plan.

On the following night, Nike went to Narook's Seaweed Noodlery. She had got her hands on some information that indicated that the person she was looking for might be there. When she stepped inside the humble restaurant, every pair of eyes turned their attention to her. She was dressed like someone from the Fire Nation – a black long-sleeved blouse with a red underbust corset on top that matched her black jeans with red chaps. That wasn't common there. The people found it odd for a Fire Nation girl to be at a typical Water Tribe restaurant.

One of the customers caught her eye. He had dark hair and light eyes and was sitting at a big table like he owned the place. He was there with some friends and had a girl in each arm. That was definitely who Nike was looking for.

The firebender walked to his table calmly as she observed the change of expressions on the male's face. He was pleased to see the firebender approaching him. However, the look on his light eyes soon changed when he saw the lady sitting on the chair in front of him without asking.

'You must be Tahno,' Nike spoke looking directly into the waterbender's eyes.

Her serious and frontal attitude didn't please the girls that were with the male.

'Yeah, he is. You can leave now-'

'Shut up,' the girl with fiery eyes interrupted the lady. 'I'm here to speak to the White Falls Wolfbats' captain, not to you.'

Tahno gestured to the girls and they got up unhappy and walked away leaving Nike and the three pro-benders alone.

'If you wanted a date, you could've just asked,' the waterbender said with a smirk on his face.

'Don't flatter yourself. I don't want a date, love; I want to be the Wolfbats' firebender,' Nike went straight to the point pressing her hands on the table.

'You?' the team's firebender, Shaozu, laughed. 'That ain't gonna happen.'

The look in the lady's eyes made it clear that she was determined to join the team. Suddenly, she turned the palm of her right hand up and created a blue flame. The pro-benders' eyes widen when they realized who she was.

'I thought you were part of the Catgators,' Ming, the earthbender, commented feeling suspicious and also reminding her that it was against the rules to be part of two different teams.

'It wasn't official, and I believe you are good at getting around the law,' she spoke suggestively as a smirk appeared on her red lips.

The team's captain stayed silent for a while worrying Shaozu.

'Don't tell me you're thinking about it!' the firebender exclaimed.

'I see you are indecisive...' Nike commented. 'What about an informal Agni Kai? The one who wins will be the team's firebender.'

Shaozu said nothing. He was thinking about that suggestion and he was going to say no.

'Oh, c'mon, are you afraid to lose?' the female spoke hustling the firebender and his team.

'He's not afraid, right, Shaozu?' Ming said.

'Tomorrow in the arena at eight in the morning,' the male with light brown eyes said.

'Perfect,' Nike replied and left the restaurant.

The firebender had a smile on her face. She knew she was going to defeat Shaozu and gain a spot in the team. The female was aware of the fact that the Wolfbats were known for cheating and not playing fair and she didn't like that. However, joining them was the only way to enter the tournament again and she needed that. Pro-bending was her only passion in life.
