-Next Day-
L I Z
I decided to talk to Darry in private that following morning. After venting to Marcus, he helped me figure out what's best- to be open about my problems instead of bottling up emotions.
(You could call Marcus my at-home therapist. He knows just what to say and he asks the right questions.)
It was about 6 in the morning, and I'm sure Darry's about to get up any minute. Sitting at the dining room table, I sipped my coffee and stared at a blank space. I could hear the sound of birds chirping and crickets from outside, and that left a calmness in my body.
I just can't believe that he would hit me, I pondered.
Don't be so negative, he went to push Pony and you got into the fight.
Just then, I heard the sound of footsteps.
Straightening up, I watched a sleepy Darry walk into the kitchen.
"Shit!" He whisper-screamed.
I laughed quietly as he jumped almost five feet in the air.
"Good morning to you too, sleepy head," I smiled weakly, "I'm here to talk to you."
He smiled gratefully and sat on the opposite end of the table, his hands folding together.
"Look, I wanna say I'm sorry, it-"
"It's fine, just let me talk." I cleared my throat, "You don't need to feel sorry. If anything, I'm on your side. It's just- you go through a lot of stress and with the bills, and Pony is just such a handful all the time because he doesn't quite understand yet, on top of that I just want mom and dad here to help out and it's making me depressed that I don't have them here to talk to me anymore and it's just crazy how our lives,- especially yours, Darry- are spiraling in a direction we never thought it would go. We just care too much, Dar-Bear. Bad things always gotta happen to the good people, Darry, and I don't know why it's always so hard for us."
Tears fell freely from my eyes, and Darry rushed to my side within seconds.
I felt as if my heart was writhing, I just couldn't feel anything but pain. Darry rushed to get me some water, but I doubt it would help. Even after he offered some, I wouldn't take any.
"Baby, please stop crying. Things are always going to look up, okay? We can only get stronger from here." Darry wiped my tears away with his calloused hands.
Looking up at him, I jumped to hug him. If it was something I loved the most, it was a hug from Darry. His arms feel soft when he hugs you, and he nuzzles his head into your neck.
"Thank you." I whispered, my face stained with dried tears.
"C'mon, we're Curtis's! We always pick each other back up." He pulled away with a smile.

The boys went off to work, and Ponyboy went on a walk to wherever. I was just there, flicking through TV channels.
"Why's it so quiet?" I heard the door slam.
"Soda and Darry are working, Ponyboy's wherever, and I don't know where the rest are." I turned my focus to Dallas.
"Well, you wanna go out? Just to relax."
An idea popped into my head, "I know just the place to relax."
A/N- I meant to finish this earlier but I was caught up in Wrestlemania, sorry.
