Chapter 31

Scarlett
Being in denial is the worst form of emotional stress one can be in. Denial makes you lose your strength of seeing what is right and what is wrong. The truth is in front of you and you want to believe in that, but something somewhere and someone is stopping you from believing it. That is what is happening to me.
I refuse to believe that Lizzy has something to do with it. I've known her for a long time. We had our fights and argument, but purposely hurting the other one could never cross our mind. The heart was telling me that it's a lie whereas my mind was contradicting it. Lizzy could be pushy and impulsive, but she could never stomp so low and insult someone, not even Hazel. Apart from that, I see no reason for her to hurt me. Then, why would her assistant say it was Lizzy? Maybe, there is someone else who is purposely trying to ruin her name. And if that's the case then I will find out who it is. I won't lose my faith in my friend. I won't be in denial and I would clear her name.
I felt a buzz in my pocket. I pulled out my phone to see that I received a message from an unknown number.
This is just the beginning. There is a lot worst to come. Beware.
I froze in my steps which earned me few scowls from people nearby as they had almost bumped into my back from the abrupt stop. I paid no attention to them and stared at the message.
The message clearly states that what happened last night at the party was indeed intentional and there is someone out there who wants to hurt me.
I felt a shiver of fear run down my spine as I re-read the message. I felt a hand grab my arm from behind almost making me jump and I would have jumped, hadn't I smelt Ethan's cologne.
"Scarlett?" He called, hesitantly.
"I got a mesage." I informed, my voice barely above a whisper.
"Who is it?" He asked and when I didn't reply, he gently took the phone from my hand. "Bloody fuck."
"Could this be related to what happened in Italy?" I asked when the sudden realisation hit me. Someone had purposely tried to lock me in the store room. Hadn't it been Ethan, their plan of hurting me would have been successfully. Similarly yesterday, it was Ethan who saved my almost body from exposing.
"How is that possible? The person who tried to hurt you in Italy was a guy and the person who tried to hurt you now is your friend, Lizzy." He said, running a hand through his hair.
"No." I said, sharply. "I told you it's not Lizzy."
"Oh, come one, Scarlett. The assistant clearly said that she heard her introduce herself as Lizzy and besides, if you are thinking of the possibility of these two events being related somehow, then other than Lizzy no one knows that you have claustrophobia." He argued.
"We saw the video, Ethan. It was a guy who locked us inside. It cannot be Lizzy." I refuted. "Besides, I already figured it was Oliver, the guy who worked at the bar with me, did it."
"How do you know that?" He inquired. "Did he confess?"
"No." I stated. "It was pretty obvious. He was angry at me for my behavior the other day when I refuse to take order from your table. He heard the threat you made and got pretty upset about that. We didn't talk after that until when you left for London. The guy from the video matched his image."
"Why the bloody hell didn't you tell me?" He bellowed.
"You were gone by then and nothing happened. He apologised as well." I defended myself.
