Chapter 52

**

Ethan

"Who are you?" I asked, my voice strained. I knew exactly who he was. The resembles were uncanny, but I wanted to hear it from his own mouth.

"I am Mark Conway." He said, his voice heavy and rough. "Scarlett's father."

I didn't know what came over me, but before I knew it I was charging at my possibly future father-in-law, hands raised in a fist. It came down, knocking his jaws to the side. Mark's face snapped to his left with his hand cladding his jaws.

"Ethan!" Mom exclaimed, coming into room with Lizzy and Mary-Ann. Along with mom's shout, a collective gasped rang around the room.

"It's okay, Mrs Wilson." Mark said, rubbing his jaws and checking the corner of his lips where a small cut lead to him bleeding. He wiped it with his thumb as he said, "I probably deserved it."

"You deserve to be hurt more." I hissed, standing up to him only to be pushed back by Nate who came and stood between us, facing me.

"That's enough. You've had enough of punching things and now people. Get hold of yourself." He muttered bitterly, pushing me away at my chest.

"I see Scarlett told you." Mark said as he took a ball of cotton from Blake. "Thank you." Blake just nodded and stepped back.

"She told me enough." I spit out, remembering her confession of being a claustrophobic. The phobia that would probably kill her before her mother can touch her body. How she craved love from her parents only to receive daily fighting and blaming. That two reasons were enough for me to bruise the man in front of me. And not to forget his wife who – for some weird reason – wants to hurt her.

"You said you know where she is?" Will inquired, looking at the man with narrow eyes.

"Yes." Mark admitted.

"Where?" Will asked instantly, not removing his eyes from Mark, analysing him.

"Ada has a friend who resides in London. Her friend is mixed with some bad people so if she wants to hurt Scarlett, Ada would only go to her for help." Mark explained.

"He did not ask about your wife's friendship. He asked where is Scarlett." I growled, clenching my hands in a fist, ready to bash him some more. The calmness I was feeling with Gwen upstairs was long gone.

"I am not really aware about the landmarks in London. I could take you there. I can faintly recall the lanes as I've been to her house once." Mark suggested.

I scoffed. "You expect me to believe that? That's a clear misleading statement. You are just tricking us into some twist scam of yours."

"Why would I do that? I don't have any reason to mislead you." Mark stated, his voice as calm as ocean on a summer day. That irked me even more. He wasn't taking this seriously. He wasn't concerned about his daughter's whereabouts.

"Saving your wife seems to be a very good reason to me." I snapped.

Mark sighed. "Let me tell you a story." He started, solemnly.

The next few minutes were spent in Mark explaining everything from the time he met Ada – his wife – to the time Scarlett was born. I was shocked to know she wasn't Ada's daughter but Mark was her father. The hatred explained why Ada would want to torture Scarlett by locking her up and why would she hate her so much and blame her. Though, that does not justify her thirst of hurting Scarlett to the point that she can't bare it and wants to kill her. She has some twisted screws in her head which could very much lead to a storm. I need to get to Scarlett more than anything now.
