I woke up on the sofa alone, Jesse was gone. So many questions were going through my mind and only Jesse could answer them. Sitting up, I tried calling what had happened last night. Olivia had made me breakfast and was now watching TV. "Did you see Jesse before he left?" I asked her.

"Nope," she answered, as she ate from her apple. "So, what happened yesterday?"

"You do not want to be me, right now."

She minimized the volume and faced me. "You have a doctor and a soon-to-be accountant in your corner. Choose wisely," she said.

"Jamal and I never existed. He is a gentleman, no lie, but I don't a connection with him, Olly. The chemistry between Jesse and I is...I don't know. I can't explain it but we get each other so well. I got closer to God because of him. Jamal would never talk of God he's in the world and I wouldn't forgive myself if I have premarital sex."

"I so envy you, right now. Your life is so perfect and to top it all off, you have a relationship with God. How do I ever get to your level? Did I do anything wrong growing up? Why is my life like this?" responded Olivia.

Oh no. Perfect? I sighed. "I'm not perfect nor is my life. Having a partner in your life doesn't make it perfect. Goodness, I do not even have a partner. My life is a roller-coaster and I'm only surviving because of God's mercy. I have to maintain the roof over my head by working and it's not easy, that's why I took up the baking thing. You complain that your life is horrible yet, here you are, with a roof over your head. A partner doesn't complete you, he's just a bonus from God. That's how I see it. Basically, you have to create a relationship with God before a partner."

She frowned at me. "If I understand it well, it's because only God knows what happens in spirit. He knows how weak the flesh is and when two people with a relationship with God come together, they center him in their relationship and pray together. Imagine if two people married and the wife cannot conceive, the man's family will advise him to seek another wife, wouldn't they? Now, when you fall in love with God first, you will rest in his word and wait on him. The wait won't be peaceful but it will be worth it, and if they truly love each other, they won't leave. 1 Corinthians 13:4, love never fails."

Olivia sighed. "How do I create a relationship with God?" She asked.

"Wow," I laughed, as I started thinking of how I began. "You can start with reading your bible at least a chapter per day. Many people would tell you from John, some Matthew but from me, start with Genesis. Also, start waking up early, just to read the bible or praying...the early bird gets the worm, after all. Start with God and end with God."

From that talk, I went to freshen up then I came back downstairs to start baking. As I was in the middle of baking, there was a knock at the door. I looked at Olivia, who was getting up to go answer the door. Before I knew it, Jamal was coming to the kitchen. Damn.

"Hi," he smiled at me.

"Hey, what are you doing here?"

He stopped in his steps and crossed his arms at his chest. "I just wanted to find out why you reacted the way you had yesterday. Am I missing something?" He asked.

"I guess it has just been a long time and I found someone."

"You found someone, how?"

"Someone likes me and I feel the same way," I answered.

"I like you. No," he sighed. "I'm in love with you."

I then remembered my cupcakes, as I took them out of the oven. "You bake?" He asked, as he got closer.

"Yes, it hasn't been long, though."

Just then, there was another knock on the door. Please, don't Jesse. Olivia answered the door. Jesse walked in and saw Jamal and I. He frowned at us but continued to walk towards Olivia. "Hey," he smiled at us and went to Olivia.
