I couldn't sleep throughout the night after what I had done. It was a stupid move and no one was supposed to go through that. Additionally, I knew that I couldn't bring myself to face him because of my shame.
Besides that, I was thinking of the business idea Jesse gave me. I should try out baking again. Jesse and I were supposed to do it together but sadly, I messed it up. Argh! Why couldn't I stop thinking about him? I hit my head with a pillow every time he came to mind.
Soon there sun was rising and I watched it as it did. Preferably, I loved sunrises more than sunsets. Sunrises made me feel new, because it was a new day, new challenges, new activities, and everything new. As my father always told me, "Any new day indicates a second chance at life to emend your wrongs and put yourself right with God. It's simply God showing you mercy."
It was my day off from work and I was planning on going to the mall to buy all the ingredients that I needed. Today marked 7 months since my father travelled and within those months, I had learnt so much about life, God and myself. I had told Ms Jane that I would be checking up on them once a month but if anything came up, they shouldn't hesitate to contact me.
I got dressed and went to the mall. How I prayed not to see Jesse around and God was on my side. On the way out, I ran into Dr Jamal. I wouldn't have ever thought that he was Jamal, he was so different like a he had a whole different makeover. A smile ran across my face, as I was delighted to have run into him. Hold up, I haven't seen this gent for seven months! He gave me a friendly hug and had the brightest smile in the world. He was growing his beard and I could tell that he started working out. Everything aside, he looked more free not still as I used to see him back in the day. It was funny how time passes by so fast, yeah.
"Look at you becoming more beautiful by the day," he said as he took my hand and turned me around.
"Me? Look at you, a whole fine gentleman," I complimented back.
"Why did you stop coming by? Didn't you miss me? Not even a single text or a call," he responded.
I released a sigh as I looked up at him. "It has not been easy."
"No need to explain," he replied as he took my hand and walked me out of the mall. "We have a lot to catch up on."
We caught up a bit on the way back to my house. Turns out, he was now working at a different hospital, he took up a new hobby of working out and he was very much still out there. "I would love to see you again," I he told me as I got out of the car.
"We shall see about that," I responded as I closed the door.
I went into the house and immediately started baking. Cupcakes were on my mind but I needed someone to taste my results. At that moment, I missed Jesse. Someone came to mind but it had been a while since we talked.
A while later, I got a knock at the door. I dried my hands and quickly walked to the door. Drawing in some air, I opened the door.
"Hey girl," smiled Olivia as she gave me a hug.
"How are you?" I asked her.
She entered the house and I led her to the kitchen. "I believe this is your first time here. Are you still stripping?" I spit out, as I wanted to know.
"Girl, things aren't easy for me at all. Can you believe that I was doing a private session for an old man, only for him to hit me for taking a small break. I had a bruise for over a week and got fired on the spot," she revealed.
Thank you, God! "I'm so sorry for what happened to you but I'm glad that your troubles are now over," I smiled at her.
"I don't even want to talk about me. Tell me more about you, girl. I see your skin, your body...who's the guy?" she asked with sneaky smile on her face, as she crossed her legs.
