~Chapter~

"holy shit.." I mutter, "where did he go?"

=================

Angela runs up behind us and gasps when she sees the giant hole, and Barrymore missing, "where is lord Barrymore?" She asks in a shaky voice. I look back at her when we hear banging on the front door upstairs. No one even exchange glances, we all just booked it upstairs to the door.

The knocking continued until Angela opened the front door, a man from the village comes in out of breath and falls to the floor to catch it, "the demon hound.." he starts out of breath, "the great hound is here!" All our eyes widen, "the hound?" We all ask.

'But didn't we solve the case? What's going on?'

"And it got lord Barrymore.." the villagers says fearful. I frown, "Damnit."

We all follow the villager into town where the big area was that we were in earlier. We see the rest of the village there kneeling and chanting, the dogs used earlier against us howling.

The villager we followed joins the rest of his people in chanting. I try to see what they were looking at, but it was too dark to see, and the rain made it almost impossible to even make out a shape, "I can't see anything, what are they looking at?" I ask. Bard grabs a villager by the shoulder, "snap out of it! What are you all doing?!" He shouts. Lightning strikes causing me to jump, but in that split second of light, I could see what they were looking at. My eyes widen, "holy shit."

It was lord Barrymore. He was dead.

The Phantomhive servants scream at the sight of his body propped against the wall, "how did this happen?" I ask, looking at Irene. She frowns, "I'm not sure.."

Sebastian steps forward to Barrymores body to examine it. I could barely see what he was looking at, but he lifts up Barrymores right arm, part of it had been ripped out. I cover my mouth and look away.

'That's nasty.'

"Oh great demon hound!" The villagers start crying out, "please please! Oh please!"
"Demon hound! Please forgive us!" Ciel and I exchange glances, "I thought the case was done and over with, did we somehow accuse the wrong man?" Ciel shakes his head, "no. I refuse to believe that it wasn't Barrymore." He folds his arms, "but there is something more to this.." he pinches the bridge of his nose, "we'll just have to rethink everything.." Ciel says annoyed. I huff and lean against Irene's head.

I suddenly hear a thud causing me to jump. I look over seeing Angela had passed out, "Angela!" I call out. Everyone looks over at Angela, Finny quickly ran over to the maid and picks her up, "Angela! Are you okay?!" He asks panicked. I look at Irene, "we should get back now. We need to assess what's going on and get Angela to bed." She hums, "right."

**************************

We all met in the drawing room soon after getting back to the Barrymore castle. In order to solve this case, we all had to give our opinions on what we think is really going on, since Ciel and I have no idea where to go from here.

"well this is unfortunate master," Sebastian starts, "to think all this happening after the case is closed. I'm sure you're a bit, annoyed?" Sebastian teases. Ciel looks at his butler with an annoyed frown, "are you quite finished?" He snaps. Sebastian moves his attention from Ciel to look at Bard, "where is Angela?" He asks, "we left her resting in her bed for now. She seems so tired yes she does" Mey-Rin says, shaking her head sadly, "too pitiful to watch, poor bird..." Bard says with a sigh. I lean back in my chair, "so? Are we gonna talk about what happened or what?" I ask, Ciel nods, "this village isolated itself completely from the rest of society out of fear of the demon hounds curse. We were certain that the hound was an illusion created by Lord Barrymore so he can work from the rule the village. But with him dead...we'll need to rethink things" I rub my forehead, "I know for sure it was Barrymore doing all of that. But we obviously just missed something, right?" Ciel nods, "possibly."
"he was covered in bite wounds, maybe the villagers were right, maybe it really was the demon hound." Bard comments, "maybe he's upset being blamed for Lord Henry's mistakes?" Mey-Rin suggests. I lean onto the table, "I don't know...it just seems we're too far into this to really think it's a demon hound. It could be something else for all we know."
"Like what? What else could it be but a demon hound?" I scratch my cheek, "Uhm...never mind." I lay my head into my folded arms.
