~Chapter~
That morning, Ciel and Sebastian come to the manor to pick up Irene and I to investigate the murder case for the next couple of days. Before we departed, I gathered the servants of the manor for a small conversation.
"Now I know you're all aware of the ground rules of while Irene and I are away. But I just wanted to remind you all of them, since Zoey and Alex over here, did something that was AGAINST the rules." Alexander and Zoey place their hands together and apologize, "we already told you we were sorry mistress!" Zoey says, "yes we're so sorry! We won't ever set fire to ANY of the gardens again!" I huff, "you're all lucky Irene's here." I look over to the two older servants of the house, "Paisley, Leonardo. Please look after these two. Besides Irene, you two are the most responsible ones here." They both nod, "of course" they both reply. I place my hands on my hips, "great. Ground rules. Just go about your usual work, although Paisley can take it a little easier since I don't need meals to be cooked for me from her while I'm away. No going into Irene's room, no going through my office, there are sensitive work documents in there. Definitely no setting fire to the garden. And don't let anyone come inside the manor while I'm away. We all good on that?" The four give a firm nod. I exhale loudly before turning on my heel and walking towards the door, "great! We'll see you all in a couple of days. Take care of yourselves while we're gone, and don't skip any meals!"
"Yes mistress!" They all shout in unison.Irene opens the door for me, letting me step through before closing it behind her. Outside, the carriage that would take us to London was waiting for us, "I'm assuming you're riding up in the front with Sebastian?" I ask Irene. She hums, "of course. The carriage is for you and the Earl after all" I nod, "alright."
'I still feel anxious leaving those four alone. I know they're capable of taking care of the manor but still, that fire to the garden was nasty.'
Upon reaching the carriage, Sebastian gives me a nod before Irene opens the door. Inside, Ciel sat on one side, so I sat across from him on the other. Irene shuts the door, "good morning, lady Goldesbury" I sigh as I sat down, "morning Ciel" he raises a brow, "something the matter?" I wave my hand and cross my legs, "I'm just worried about my servants is all. They're capable of watching the manor on their own, just the last time Irene and I left for a job we came back to a charred garden. My gardener Zoey and butler Alexander set it on fire somehow" I say, rubbing the bridge of my nose. Ciel gives me an amused smile, "my servants do that on a daily basis. It's stressful, I understand" I lean against my hand and smile, "glad you do."
Ciel then eyes me up and down. Now I raise a brow, "what?" He shrugs, "nothing, it's just...I don't usually see women wear pants..or ties." He pauses, "It's...unusual to see." I glance down at my outfit, "is that a bad thing? My outfit being unusual?" Ciel shakes his head, "no no, I just don't see a lot of women wearing something like that is all I'm saying. It's just a little strange is all." Ciel clears his throat, his cheeks flush pink from embarrassment at his comment.
