(Okay so played this idea a lot in my head during the writing of switch and since undertale has more than one ending...let's make switch have a sad ending :(...prepare for crying and sadness)
TW: Death, attempted suicide, alcohol abuse.

This wasn't how it was supposed to go.
This wasn't supposed to be the ending.
What was even happening.
Cross blinked.
He only fucking blinked and his world was burning.
He was holding a blade in his hand, one of his very own, one that he had with him every time he fought, he called it his 'devil card'.
However, what was striking him speechless was who his 'devil card' had pierced through.
Nightmare stared at him, tears in his eyes, dripping down his cheeks as he coughed up dark maroon from his mouth, it came in immediate waves.
The stick substance began dripping down his jaw and now staining his shirt that Error had personally made for him.
Cross let go of his weapon, making it disappear as his dark flame fell to his knees.
"C...cro...cross?" Nightmare gurgled out, staring up at him with so much forgiveness that was so misplaced.
Cross fell with him, catching him in his arms, he felt hot tears come out of his eyes, blurring his vision.
He cradled his prince, muttering so many apologizes, so many words of how much he loved him.
He could not believe what he had done.
Nightmare then dusted, his dust coloring Cross's dark clothes with grey. It was all in Cross's hands and the ground, the stunned silence did not make it any better.
Nothing could make this better.
"Good boy Cross" Ink said, so close to him, if Cross wasn't in so much shock and dismay he would've lunged at him.
However, Cross turned slowly, to look up at the emotionless and possessed corpse of a person staring at him with a sadistic smile along his maw.
He couldn't even move, he honestly welcomed death.
Suddenly, Ink was blasted away, the loud beam almost evaporated him due to the force used behind it.
Ink, dying on the ground was laughing, cackling even. His body slowly becoming dust itself as he continued to laugh and wail all at once. The noise was horrific, because it wasn't just his.
It was two voices.
One laughing.

One wailing.

Both dying.

They both soon stopped, only haunting silence was left behind.

Until Cross started screaming.
He screamed, grabbing his skull and yelling into the ground, suddenly hands were on him, dragging him onto his feet.
"Should we knock him the out?" Someone whispered, he wasn't sure who was speaking but he couldn't quite hear over his cries of grief and anger.
Suddenly a sharp pain came to the back of his skull and the world turned as dark as his soul felt then and there.
Dust was panting, he had to, he didn't want to, he just had to.
The other two stared at him for a moment, giving him looks and then looked at each other.
The silence ate at them.
Error was staring at Inks dust, his bones cracking from how hard his fists were curled into a ball.
He once so long ago wanted to be the victor in him and inks constant battles, once long ago, he would've laughed at inks death and said 'fuck you!"
Now?
He was pretty sure his soul shattered the moment the beam hit Ink.
As if he took the blow himself.
He turned slowly, to look at the group, who were surrounding Cross's limp and unconscious body.
He got here to little to late.
And he hated it.
He had to make himself go as emotionally dead as he possibly could to get home, he couldn't grieve yet, no.
He could not.
Someone had to get them home and it was him.
Slowly, with a wave of his hand, he opened the portal back to the castle with out a damn word being spoken.
Horror picked up Cross easily, throwing him over his shoulder and walked toward the portal, staring directly at his feet as he did.
The other two followed behind him in dead silence.
As they entered back into the castle, Blue and Dream were waiting on them. Blue rushed to Horror to check on Cross, making sure he was not injured due to his unconscious state.
Dream was looking around the entire crowd waiting for someone to come through that was not returning with him.
It was very apparent soon enough they were coming through, as Error came through and gave him a dead stare.
Dream fell to his knees, tears started leaking from his eye sockets and the look of pure horror colored his entire face.
Only coldness was greeting the grief.
Killer rushed to Dream, falling onto his knees next to him and pulled the grieving brother to his chest. Dream buried his face into Killers chest, sobbing his entire soul out onto him.
Error needed a damn drink.
Blue had horror move Cross to his room, and gave him specific instructions to stay with him.
Horror did as he was told.
Dust followed Error to the kitchen, where he ripped a whiskey bottle right out the cupboard, opening the bottle and drowning himself with the burning liquid, Dust stared at him.
"What?" Error challenged him.
Dust walked up to him and grabbed the bottle from him wordlessly, before Error could protest or even say anything, Dust wrapped his arms around Error and held him.
That's when he lost it, he gripped onto Dust and let all the emotions he was hiding show, he couldn't help it now. He sobbed, screamed, cursed, and Dust just let him, not saying a word.
After a long while, Error became emotionally exhausted, his wails and cries quieted, Dust rubbed his back and still said nothing.
No words could really fix this could they?
That's when they heard it, the loud bang and crash that came from up stairs.
They both teleported to Cross's room.
Cross was pinned down by Horror, his 'devil card' now on the other side of the room, laying on the ground.
"What the fuck?!" Dust asked, Error stared at the scene in shock.
Did....did Cross just try to...
Oh no the fuck he was not.
"Let him go" Error was so surprised his voice was calm.
Horror let him up, Cross got back onto his feet panting. Error grabbed him by the shirt, yanking him closer so they were eye to eye.
"You better not even fucking dare, the last thing he would want is that" Error hissed.
He didn't mean to sound that venomous but Cross was the only thing he had left, he could not afford another loss.
Not like this.
Cross stared at him, then grabbed Errors arm, his face showing all the pain in his mind and soul.
Error caught him, bringing him close to himself.
Error then gave the other two a nod, as in leave.
Horror and Dust quickly left the room, closing the door quietly behind them.
"Now put your knife up, now" Error said quietly, the noise of the item vanishing made Error slightly relax.
He held Cross for a long moment, the guy was shaking so bad it made him vibrate too.
They were messed up weren't they?
"We will get through this Cross...we will"
Cross didn't believe that...

Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhh I know it's a bit dark
