sorry xx, early update
i'm proud of this chapter but you guys probs won't be lol bye
I sat at home and tapped away at my phone while watching Saturday cartoons. Mary was humming to herself as she made chocolate chip waffles in the kitchen. She was craving a lot more chocolate than usual. She had new weird pregnancy cravings too and threw up a lot. Jake had been sleeping a lot more also. I felt really strange about the other day with Nate. I got up off of the couch and walked into the kitchen. I sat at the table and looked at Mary as she started to nod her head to whatever song she was humming to.
“Can I borrow the car?” I asked her.
“Sure, but you have to bring it right back. Jake and I are leaving this afternoon to go see my parents.” she went back to humming.
I didn’t answer. Instead I got up from the table, took the keys and ran out the door to the car. I was still in my pajama pants and big, baggy tee shirt from sleeping, but I didn’t care. I drove all the way to the nearest Walgreens and bought my blue green hair coloring. I quickly paid and drove to Justin’s house. I ran up to the front door and adjusted myself very quickly before ringing the doorbell. I probably looked terrible.
A few seconds later, Justin showed up at the door. He looked completely exhausted and groggy. The second he realized it was me at the door, his eyes brightened and he looked around to see if I was with anyone.
“Cali?” he yawned.
“We’re hanging out today. Is that okay?” I bit down on my lip nervously. I was too forward. He looked me up and down and chuckled.
“Well, I guess. Do you want to come in?” he stepped aside.
“No, thanks. I was thinking we could hang out at my house?” I continued to chew at my bottom lip. Justin stared at my lips as I did so.
“Okay, I’ll get ready,” he turned to go into the house and then turned back around, “You should stop chewing on your lip all of the time.” he winked at me playfully and then shut the door.
I trudged back to the car and sighed. I was such an idiot. The drive back to my house wasn’t very long. Justin sang along to some pop song on the car radio and I laughed hysterically at him. Within a few minutes, we arrived back at the house. Mary and Jake were both outside on the porch.
“You went to pick up a boy?” Jake asked, seeming a little perturbed.
“Jake, this is my friend Justin.” I ignored his question.
“I can see.” Jake berated me. Mary swatted at his arm.
“She’ll be fine.” Mary tightened her jaw. She came over to me and took the keys from me to go start the car.
Justin and I walked inside. He looked around the small place and sat down at the kitchen table. He pointed to the bag, from Walgreens, in my hand.
“What’s that?”
“It’s hair dye. You’re helping me. Come on,” I walked up the stairs and into the hallway bathroom. Justin followed in after me. He sat on the toilet while I got the hair dye ready.
“Well, this brings back memories.” he chuckled to himself.
I ignored his statement, “I went on a date with that Nate guy.” I started to put the dye in my hair and run it through the roots of my hair. I stopped and turned to face him when I realized Justin was staring at me.
“What?” I raised my eyebrows at him.
“Does Cali stand for anything?” he leaned his head on his hand.
