Empress Of Dark World (Sequel To Beating Hearts)

Chapter : 31

Day's passed by really slow with the brothers teaching me tricks to enhance my powers as I started to learn how to harness the power inside me, well it was more of a mental work really. The good thing however is that I know how to teleport now, it wasn't that hard. All I had to do was think of the place I want to be and focus my power and voila.

I had yet to learn the art of telekinesis, which was hard and even harder than that was learning how to control time which Gillian said would still take time for me to actually master it, he asked me to keep on practicing the basics which was not so exciting, repetitive things bore me to no end and in order to get some excitement in life I would spend my afternoons and evening on the hilltop working on to better my telekinesis skill.

I was on the hill top once again trying on my skills to make it better but failing like always, I was loosing hope in myself, I just can't do this I thought. I was tired of trying and failing each time, this won't help me bring back Regina.

"I am trying  Regina, I really am but what if I can't bring you back ??" a question I asked believing that she was able to hear me and watch me.

I was standing on the edge of the hill, feeling powerless and that's when I saw the Phoenix which flew by me and right after that I felt a presence next to me, "What do you do when you feel like your attempts are all failing, Yunus ?" I asked him, hoping he could help me out here.

"I remember when Regina was small maybe your age or even smaller than you are, she would keep on practicing no matter how many times she would fail at that, it was her faith and determination which helped her become who she is today, she wasn't born a master she had to become one with time" he said looking down at the village.

"So you are with her since when Regina was small" I assumed to which he nodded.

"I was with her at each and every step she took, I know her like no other person can and I know you too..." that said he whispered something in Latin I believe and right in front of me was a stuffed toy, one which was familiar, which I had lost when I was a kid. 

It was a monkey and I had named him Odd.

"You want it, go and get it" and after that the monkey flew away, I know ironic.

"You can't do that" I was angry, all this time I thought I had lost him and Yunus had Odd!!

"but I did already, now go figure...oh and hurry, before you loose him again" after that Yunus disappeared on me.

There's no way I am loosing Odd again, he was my best friend!!

Odd was floating above me in the air. 

I searched for a big stick around me and I found one, I tired to reach Odd with it but the more I tried to do that the further he rose up making it now impossible for me to reach him with a stick.

Okay, what next ??

Maybe Jonathan and Gillian can help and so I called them. I showed them my toy which was floating up above us in air while both of them laughed at me. 

"You called us for this, this should not be that hard now Ave...Come on" They said as I watched them try and reach for it and in the process making the toy float up even higher.

If anything, they were only making it hard for me.

"Stop it" I yelled at the both of them, "Just go...leave it be, you are not helping here. Although, thank you for coming and trying to help" I said disappointed and with a sad face they left.

"Okay buddy, it's just you and me now and I am not leaving with you tonight no matter what!!" I said that out loud pointing at Odd who was still up in the air.

I had no other option then to try and use my power which I was still working on.

I Looked up at Odd who was up in the sky and tried to focus my mind there, nothing happened.

I tired again and still nothing, all it seemed to do was make my head ache more and more.

"It's going to be okay Ave, calm down...You are okay, try again" I said it out loud to myself.

I kept trying and failing, this went on and on. 

With every try I could feel blood running down my eyes, nose and ears, wiping it off with my sleeves I would just start again.

I was starting to run short on daylight and with no light I won't be able to see anything.

I took a deep breath and looked up where my toy was and raising my right hand up in its direction I closed my eyes focusing with all of what was left in me I opened my eyes and channelled my power up at the toy.

The very next moment I fell down on the ground with blood running down my nose, eyes and ears. Right next to me I saw Odd while I felt this pulse in my head and in my heart which wasn't me, it was as if the Earth had its own heartbeat and I could feel it in my bones. The next thing I remember was someone standing over me, I couldn't just make out who it was but they kneeled down beside me, "You did well" I heard the person say to which I smiled, really satisfied with what I did and with one last look at Odd I blacked out.
