Lennox slammed on the break as they pulled up to the mall. Penelope hopped out of the car and began walking briskly through the crowd of fleeing pedestrians.“Laura! Calm the chaos!” John yelled as he started running towards the entrance.
“On it!” She raised her hands and the piece of concrete she stood on began to rise. She waved and instructed people to safety, protecting them from each other.
Lennox called water from a nearby fire hydrant, creating an ice path over the crowd and beelining after John.
“Wait for me!” Penelope yelled, struggling against the current of people.
Lennox turned back towards the girl, holding out his hand towards her. Penelope reached up but was surprised as an ice sphere surrounded and imprisoned her. “Hey!”
“Sorry, I can’t let you get hurt anymore.” Lennox frowned as he continued towards the mall.
Penelope banged on the ice. Her shouts muffled through the barrier.
John and Lennox ran through the mall, searching for Kori and Sahir.
“There’s Damia!” Lennox called out pointing to the girl.
“John!” The girl called out, running towards them.
“Kori… and Sahir!” She gasped, “They’re by the food courts.” Lennox nodded and ran off in the direction of the fight.
“What happened?” John asked, searching the debris for any survivors.
“Gluttony and Envy.” Damia inhaled. “Una’Myus was here too.”
John paused and looked at the girl. “She was here?”
“Yeah.”
John nodded slowly and turned toward the food courts before dashing in that direction. Damia watched as the man disappeared around the rubble.
Kori grunted as she pushed the shelf off of Sahir and the child. “A little help!” She groaned.
“I’m trying!” She heard a muffled voice under the large wooden shelf.
“Kori!” She heard Lennox's voice call out.
“Over here! I need your help.”
Lennox rushed through the hole in the store’s wall. He paused as he saw Una’Myus unconscious in the corner. “What’s she doing here?”
“Sahir’s stuck.” Kori ignored him. “Ask questions later.”
“Right.” The two lifted the shelf off the boy and child, shoving it away.
“Where did the sins go?” Lennox asked as he helped Sahir up.
“They retreated.”
Are you-” Lennox started but noticed the wound on Sahir’s shoulder. “So… if Nel tried to kill one of us, I’m blaming you.”
“What are you talking about?” Kori snapped, picking up Una’Myus.
“Sahir’s hurt.”
“No, I’m not,” Sahir said as he soothed the child’s cries.
“Here, let me clean it,” Lennox said, pulling water from a nearby water dispenser. He hovered the water over Sahir’s shoulder. Sahir hissed in pain, pulling away from the man.
“What the hell!” He yelled.
“Oh also,” Kori cut in, “he’s the-”
“Kori!” John ran through the wall, sending debris across the room. “Wait…”
