Lennox waited for Penelope to exit the bathroom. She entered her room and tossed her clothes to the side, glancing at Lennox.
"Uh... Lennox?" Penelope clutched her robe against her.
"Yes?" Lennox looked up from his sketchbook.
"Do you mind getting out?"
"Do I have to?" Lennox sighed, getting up and walking towards her. "I mean, you don't necessarily need to put on clothes right now."
"I guess." Penelope rolled her eyes. Lennox pulled her into his lap and sat on the bed.
"What's on your mind?" Lennox asked, twirling a piece of her hair between his fingers.
"Nothing." Penelope leaned her head against him.
"Something's bothering you." Lennox sighed, dragging her to the center of the bed and wrapping his arms around her.
Penelope fixed her robe, "What on TV?" She changed the subject and started scrolling through the channels on her television.
"Nel?" Lennox pulled her over and climbed on top of her. "Talk to me."
Penelope looked at him and sighed. "There's nothing to talk about."
"Penelope," Lennox said firmly.
"Fine." Penelope attempted to sit up. Lennox refused to get off of her and she exhaled loudly.
"I'm not moving till you talk to me." Lennox looked at her.
"Whatever." Penelope sighed. "Can I at least have a pillow, my boobs are trying to kill me?"
Lennox tucked a pillow under her head and sat up. "Now speak." He urged.
"I hate this power thing." Penelope adjusted her robe again. "I don't like the idea of fighting."
"But it's not like you're just fighting to fight." Lennox tried to justify.
"I know that." Penelope huffed. "But still, why does it have to be violence that helps the world?"
"Because evil is trying to hurt it." He answered.
"But does that make us any better?"
"Yes, because we're fighting to protect others, and we're trying to do so while not allowing harm to others." Lennox leaned forward.
Penelope shook her head. "Does it still make it right?"
"Okay." Lennox tilted his head to the side. "So besides the powers and supernatural aspect of this, what's so different between this and becoming a detective?"
Penelope raised her eyebrows and tried to think of an answer.
"You take self-defense classes to protect yourself and others, but those can cause harm to the enemy. You need a gun license and are taught how to shoot to kill in situations where your life or someone else's is in danger." Lennox explained. "The only difference is once you catch the bad guy, you send them to jail. We don't have jails to put them in, they're too dangerous not to be dealt with."
Penelope chewed her lip as she thought over his words. "If you put it like that, there is no difference."
"So don't you think you're being a bit hypocritical right now?" Lennox asked.
"I guess." Penelope exhaled.
"So. Show them why you were chosen." Lennox smiled, kissing her.
"Okay. Now can you get off of me?" Penelope wiggled underneath him.
