Sahir walked down the hallways of his new school, his eyes locked on his phone screen. "Mom, will you be coming home tonight?" He sent the text and looked up to see a flyer. He scanned the sheet of paper and slid his phone into his pocket. "The hospital has partnered with the school and has set up a mentorship program for seniors?"
"Sign up in the main office." As Sahir started towards the main office he felt his phone vibrate.
"Sorry bookie, I will be working a double at the office today." His mother replied.
"Ight then..." Sahir responded, rolling his eyes. He locked his phone as he neared the entrance to the office.
"Oh hello, what can I help you with?" the lady at the front desk asked as Sahir walked up.
"I'm here to sign up for the hospital's mentorship program," Sahir stated.
"Okay hun, just sign your name here and hand me your schedule for the year." The woman's voice chirped. Sahir handed off his schedule and quickly signed his name. "Oh, so you're taking some AP classes this year."
"Yeah, I kinda want to be ahead since I'm studying to become a doctor," Sahir explained.
"Alright, so since you have only five classes. Three on A-days and Two on B-days we'll have you report to the hospital every B-day after your classes are done." The lady stated. "I'll submit this to your counselor for the schedule change, Have a nice day."
"Thank you and you enjoy your day," Sahir replied leaving the office. "I need to hurry home and nap before practice today. I love being a senior." He then briskly walked out of the building and set off in the direction of his house.
As Sahir walked up to his front door. Keys in hand stopping as he heard his sister talking loudly to someone from the living room.
"But Nel, if you don't then-" Lennox stopped as the house door opened with Sahir entering from the hall.
"What's going on? Why is Lennox here and what happened to mom's plant?" Sahir asked, raising his eyebrow.
"Oh, we were just-" before Lennox could say much, Penelope cut him off.
"Lennox here has some sort of magical powers and according to him, I do too. I caused the plant to explode so he wants me to come with him so we can meet our leader," Penelope stated looking at Sahir, taking another sip of her tea. Sahir stared blankly before bursting into laughter.
"Oh shit, that was funny is this some type of live-action RPG thing. Like is my sister the lost chosen one?... And you know you gonna have to buy mom a new potted plant." Sahir snickered. Penelope rolled her eyes and sighed.
"This is serious you two could be in danger!" Lennox stressed. Sahir looked between the two and dropped his bookbag.
"Who the fuck are you yelling at?" Sahir took a step towards Lennox.
"Chill Sahir," Penelope said.
"Look I'm sorry but I'm not joking. This is no live-action RPG I'm dead serious." Lennox said rubbing his temples.
"Okay. Prove it... show me your powers." Sahir said, folding his arms.
"Fine." Lennox waved his hand and forced the tea in Penelope's cup to float over to him. He then froze the tea in the shape of a cylinder and placed it back in her cup.
"Hey, unfreeze my drink," Penelope whined.
"Woah..." Sahir uttered before sitting on the couch.
"See. Now we have to go meet John, my leader." Lennox said.
"No. I'm not going like I said," Penelope told him. "Now could you please get out?"
