Penelope rolled over and murmured into her pillow, grabbing her phone off the charger. She squinted as the device vibrated in her hand, huffing as she picked up her phone. She sat up and rubbed her eyes.

"Hel-" Penelope started but was cut off.

"MY BABY!" Aubrey's voice cracked over the speaker.

"Mom what?" Penelope snapped, frowning as she peered into the dark.

"They took my baby!" She yelled again.

"Who?" Penelope threw her legs off the bed.

"We were attacked and they took him!"

Penelope threw on a pair of pants and a sweater before running out of her room, her mother crying hysterically over the phone.

She banged on Lennox's door as she walked past, walking straight to Laura and Johns's room. Lennox opened the door and looked towards Penelope as she knocked on the other room's door.

John opened the door, looking down at Penelope. "What happened?" He yawned.

"Sahir was just kidnapped." Penelope tuned. "We need to go get him."

Lennox was already dressed and walked down the steps with her. "We'll meet you at the house." He stated as they exited the mansion.

"Great." John yawned as he turned to wake up his wife.

Lennox sped down the streets as Penelope quietly sat in the passenger seat.

"Can you go faster?" Penelope urged.

"I know you want to get your brother back, but killing us in the process isn't going to help." Lennox pressed his lips together.

"I told her he needed to stay with us." She snapped. "She never wants to listen. Now, look!"

Lennox focused on driving. He slowed down as they entered the gated community. They watched as they drove past injured people on the streets.

"I can't get any further with the car." Lennox frowned, watching as people rushed around.

Penelope hopped out of the car and started running towards the house. She dodged other people as they scurried around, pushing some out of her way.

She yelped as she was tackled, a young woman pinning her to the ground.

"Get off me!" Penelope grunted, struggling under the girl's weight.

"Who are you and where did you take the boy?" The girl asked.

"Excuse me?" Penelope hissed through her teeth, vines snatching the woman off of her. "I should be asking you!"

"Vines?" The girl looked at Penelope. "You're a guardian. The alpha is this way."

Penelope watched as the girl guided her to her mother's house. She ran inside, heading straight to her mother who was crying on the couch.

"Mom. Are you hurt?" Penelope looked over the woman.

"No. But your brother." She sniffled.

"What did they look like?" Penelope asked.

"We don't really know." Penelope heard a voice say. "But one of them was an old pack mate of mine."

Penelope turned towards the man who answered her. "And you are?"

"Maverik." The man answered. "Your mother's boyfriend and the alpha of this wolf pack."

Penelope looked between him and the girl who brought her here. "And she's your lackey?"

"Brix," The girl spat.
