"Are you excited?" Alice turned to FP, who's leg was bouncing up and down like he had no control over it.

They were sitting in the waiting room of the hospital, the minutes going by ever so slowly before they would finally have the first sonogram of their baby. FP had barley closed an eye at night.

"Nervous, mostly." He said lowly, almost too afraid to look at her.

"You look worried too." She had caught his eyes nonetheless, and began to grow concerned. Had he changed his mind? Didn't he want their baby anymore?

"Gladys said some things that got into my head." FP confessed, with a blush on his cheeks.

"Al, I don't think I am going to be a good father." He said, his voice cracking just slightly.

"Did she tell you that?" Alice asked quietly, feeling herself tear up by the idea that she would say such a cruel thing. FP nodded sadly.

"Your dad wasn't a good man FP. You're not like him. You'll be a great dad, okay? You will go to the end of the earth for our child. I know that." Alice took his hand into hers, not in a romantic way, but to make sure he knew he was supported by her. She believed in him.

"I would. I haven't even met our little one yet, but I'd do anything." FP said, smiling again. She always knew exactly what the say.

"Don't doubt yourself, FP. I believe you'll be the best parent." She told him sweetly, needing for him to know how much faith she has in him.

"You're going to be a great mom too, Alice." FP said, encouraging her too. She deserved that. Alice smiled back at him. She needed to hear that too.

"Miss Smith and Mr Jones? Come in, please." Their doctor gestured for them to come closer. FP and Alice gave each other one more look and then got up, knowing they were in this together.

"This is your first sonogram, isn't it?" She asked, as Alice laid down on the chair prepared for her. Alice nodded, FP stayed silent. He was too nervous to get out any word.

"This can feel a little cold," She warned Alice, as she squirted the gel on her still flat stomach.

FP looked at everything that happened quite confused, trying his hardest to keep breathing while his heart raced.

"Is everything okay? Why don't I hear anything?" Alice asked worriedly, her eyes glued on the small screen. Her doctor looked slightly concerned, but then relaxed.

"There's your baby." She told them, turning to the parents with a smile.

"Is that the heartbeat?" FP asked, as he focussed on the beating sound that filled the room.

"That's the heartbeat of your child." The doctor confirmed, looking in awe at the parents who seemed to barely believe what they saw.

"Oh my god, Al... it's the most beautiful sound I've ever heard." FP chuckled happily and entwined her hand with his own without a second thought. Alice looked at him with tears in her eyes.

"That's our baby." She whispered softly grinning from ear to ear.

"Yeah... that's our baby." He whispered back, looking right into her tear filled blue eyes.

"How is the mother feeling?" The doctor asked, turning to Alice again.

"I've been really dizzy, nauseous and tired, but isn't that to be expected?" She wondered, as she looked at her with worry in her eyes.

"Your test results show that your blood pressure is really low. It also looks like your baby is not growing really fast. I'm going to have to give you some extra vitamins to keep your vitals steady." She gave her a soft smile.
