I hugged Aunt Inko back, "I'm glad you think so."
After a few seconds she let go, "Come in! You know where the guest bedroom is, just set your stuff in there." She moved out of the way to let us in, "It's good to see you again Nobuyuki, has work been okay?"
My dad talked to Aunt Inko while I set my things on the bed in the guest room, only unpacking my charger and other small items like my hairbrush. Once I did that I headed back into the kitchen where Aunt Inko and my dad were talking.
"Hey, Aunt Inko?"
"What is it dear?"
"Wheres Izuku?" I looked around the room, as if I would find him if I looked harder.
"Oh! He went to get a few groceries, he should be back soon!" She slid out a chair next to her, "Why don't you join is for a little." She smiled brightly as I made my way to the chair, "Tell me about how things have been going in school. I'd love to hear about your friends."
About ten minutes passed by where I would talk about all the friends I've made and show her pictures of them, and then there was a knock at the door.
"That must be Izuku. Keiko, could you get the door for him?"
"Yeah I can do that." I shadow traveled the the door and looked through the peephole just to make sure. Once I could tell it was Izuku I unlocked it and held it open for him. "Four grocery bags? Did you walk all the way from the store to here?"
"Oh, yeah, it's not that big of a deal." He placed the bags on the counter and started to put groceries away.
"Anyway, I should get going. Again, thank you for letting Keiko stay for a few days."
"You know it's never a problem. It's a pleasure to have her over."
He stood up and made his way to me, "Alright Kiddo, I'll pick you up at one on Saturday. Make sure you eat something before then."
"Don't worry dad, I know." He hugged me with one arm, the other had his jacket, and ruffled up my hair. "Alright, you kids have fun!"
"See ya, dad!"
"Have a good day Uncle Nobu!" Izuku and Aunt Inko waved as he closed the door.
Izuku had only finished putting away one bag so far, so I grabbed some things out of another bag.
"There's no need to help him, you're our house guest after all!"
I shook my head as I put away a box of cereal, "It's fine, I've been here so many times that I know where everything goes, so I might as well."
"Mom, if she wants to help she can." He stepped onto a step stool and placed canned food on the top shelf in their pantry.
"Well... if you insist, thank you so much Keiko."
We finished up putting all the groceries away and sat down on the couch to talk. Aunt Inko started on dinner and told us to relax, so we caught up with each other a bit. We're in the same class, but since I've been hanging around everyone else so much I haven't talked to him a lot.
"So... Kacchan did tell me about his hearing earlier today, and he mentioned you already knew?"
"Yeah, he told me while we were at that training camp. I suggested getting some modifications to his suit. And I told him I would learn sign language."
He raised his head, "Really? I told him that I could learn sign language too, and I already have a bit of knowledge from Mrs. Harada!"
"Yeah, I mentioned her too! But I'm surprised he actually talked to you."
"Me too. It was over text so it's not like he actually spoke to me. But he at least seems to... somewhat tolerate me?"
I chuckled, "Yeah he's not nearly as bad as he used to be. But hey, maybe we can practice sign language a bit while I'm here."
"There is one other thing."
"Oh?"
"He... In a somewhat roundabout way, told me he was sorry for everything that happened before high school." Izuku leaned back into the couch, "He was never great at putting thoughts into words."
"Well, at least when it comes to stuff like that anyway. I can only imagine what it sounded like." I laughed. "But it's definitely a start."
Izuku smiled gently, "Yeah, he mentioned a certain someone telling him that heroes don't say stuff like that." He turned the small smile on his face into a smirk, "He also mentioned that certain someone has changed his life for the better." He poked my arm.
"He did not. He's not sappy like that." I protested. "I don't believe you." I said, crossing my arms.
"Alright fine, you got me, I lied." He glanced towards the tv. "But the rest is true. I still consider him my friend, but I do think we could talk in person at some point."
"That's not a horrible idea. But I'm glad he's making an effort to improve his relationships, and when he wants I try to help him put his thoughts into words." I laughed. " But yeah, you're not great at lying."
He nodded his head in agreement, "But we probably shouldn't mention his hearing to anyone else yet, he probably wouldn't appreciate anyone else finding out before he's ready."
"I can definitely agree on that."
