Hello friends, I am back with the new chapter. I have tried some new things here, regarding the time of the story, the pace of the story and mainly regarding the size of the chapter. I am hoping to write snippets until Hailey has finally settled down in New York. As the scene has been set for both her and Jay, I will get back to writing longer chapters like I used to. Hope you enjoy. :)

PS: Don't hate me after this chapter.

So everything was done and decided; Hailey was moving to New York, Jay and she had broken up, Jay was shattered and she in tears. Voight knew everything and for once he showed some emotions towards them. It almost felt like the end of an era. Things had changed so drastically and in such a short span of time. And what no one could have even fathomed had happened; Hailey and Jay had broken up.

And now the day had come when Hailey had to leave for New York. She was asked to come to Intelligence by Voight and meet everyone one last time before leaving, because only God knew when she would return, if at all. Jay was there in the bull pen and he didn't dare look at anyone. He was seriously trying his best not to break down. He and Voight had patched things up, if that was possible with Voight, and now they were on the same page and the waters seemed to be calm again. Hailey hugged everyone lovingly, unable to control her tears. This had become something normal for her these days, she thought. The boys made her laugh by saying something funny, but deep down were sad that she was leaving. On the other hand Kim and Vanessa didn't care to hide their emotions, they cried and laughed together sincerely hoping that they would meet again. They had all become sisters in these past few years and having to lose one suddenly was a pain that could not be equaled. Finally Hailey approached Jay, not sure what she was going to say or do. He just stood there, looking down but knowing well she was approaching him. He could smell her as she approached him sufficiently and he thought inwardly how much he was going to miss this smell, how much he was going to miss her. She looked at him and said, "Good luck."

He dared to look at her and said, "Thanks, you too. And take care."

There was a slight pause and they were both very conscious of all the others being around but nonetheless, they embraced. It was the last shred that could help them get through this nightmare. Nobody would ever know what that hug meant, but both of them knew it meant the world to them. The team had sensed that something had happened between them, but then had gone south, which was ironically the last thing any of them would have expected, but that was how it was and now Hailey was leaving. Only Voight seemed to know the details and nobody had the guts or even the will to ask him the details, because the result was in front of them and it was painful as hell. Hailey was holding him and closed her eyes against his chest fighting the onrush of tears that were ready to flow. Jay too was holding her tightly and savouring the last moment. She had to quit because him, she was leaving because of him and there was literally nothing he could do to stop her. He didn't know how he would ever repay her. All this brought about a spasm in his heart that he had never felt before. And it seemed that Hailey almost sensed that and placed her hand on his heart. They parted slowly, still looking at each other, so many things left unsaid and so many emotions suppressed. Hailey turned around quickly and walked towards Voight embracing him, knowing for sure now that he was on her side, that he had always been on her side. They too parted and she was escorted to her cab by him. Trudy was waiting downstairs and Hailey and she shared a long and painful hug, silently saying they were going to miss each other. Hailey was settled in the cab and off to New York.

Jay was having a hard time concentrating, let alone doing anything. He knew he was going to face hell without Hailey, but her absence seemed to have a bigger impact on him and he was asked to take the day off by Voight. The only thing Jay could think about at the moment was to get drunk and just for a while, even for a little while, forget about the torturous pain he was going through. So that's what he did, entering any bar and trying to forget the one thing he had thought he would never forget. Suddenly he felt a hand on his shoulder and he turned around in a daze. He then spoke, "Hi."

The voice replied with a smile, "Hi Jay, I have missed you so much."

Jay smiled meekly, it was evident he was drunk and out of his senses. The voice continued softly, "Come on, let's go home Jay."

Jay looked at the face for a long moment and got up suddenly almost losing his balance. The figure held him and he smiled again, muttering a slurred thank you. They drove home in silence and as they reached the apartment the figure led him inside and Jay complied. He looked around trying to remember where he was, because currently everything was swirling in his head. The person asked him gently, "Do you want anything Jay?"

He looked at the figure in front of him and said, "I want Hailey."

There was a slight irritation on the person's face now, but Jay didn't notice that. Instead the figure spoke, "I can give you something you want."

"Oh, yeah?" Jay asked, almost amused now.

The person nodded with a small smile. The figure was observing him thoughtfully and suddenly Jay felt something on his lips. He was too drunk to understand what was happening, but his automatic response was to reciprocate, more so because if someone was kissing him, it would only be Hailey. But he didn't seem to remember Hailey was not here and the person he was kissing was his wife. Abby was leaning against him and really trying to get all of him. She mumbled against his lips, "I can finally get what I want."

And she pulled his T-shirt off over his head and threw it on the ground.

Well, this is the end of the chapter and as I mentioned earlier, I am trying something new. So I would really appreciate all of your thoughts on it. And I would also be interested to hear what you think is going to happen next. Please share your views. Thank you for reading and sticking around, it really means a lot. :)
