DreamXD POV
Anxiety churned in DreamXD's stomach. He had a bad, nagging feeling about leaving George404 alone. He struggled to brush it off as simple separation anxiety. After all, the two were always together, and Techno said himself that the wall kept them safe.
DreamXD fixed his eyes forward, knowing he needed to focus. They were flying at high speed, the wind streaming through DreamXD's dirty blond hair. After only two hours of flying, he could see the mountains in the distance.
A dark, ominous pressure pushed back against their flight. Techno wasn't wrong... the closer you got, the more the mountains screamed at you to leave while you still could. There was no vegetation left, the trees bare and wilted. The ground covered in blackened, rotting plants. Several animal skeletons stuck out like stars in the night sky.
Grotesque-looking creatures slipped in and out of shadows. DreamXD was too far up to make out details, but he knew those were the monsters Techno warned him about.
DreamXD tilted his head at TechnobladeND. "You feel that?"
"Makes me nauseous," Techno admitted. His pink braid whipped the air behind him. "It will only get worse from here."
The mountains approached in clearer detail, causing DreamXD to suck in a breath of shock. Dark, eerie shadows wrapped the area in pitch black. Massive black tree branches curled from the darkness, tiny purple particles flickering among the shadows. From above, it appeared as though they would be descending into a thick black ocean.
TechnobladeND's eyes widened slightly, his wrinkled nose the only indication he was just as startled as DreamXD.
Tucking his wings, DreamXD reluctantly dove into the black. The air wrapped around him in a freezing chill. He raised a hand, igniting bright green light, the ground crunching beneath his boots.
Techno was holding his own hand, engulfed in red light, not far from DreamXD.
"Do you know where we are going?" DreamXD questioned.
"Follow the pressure."
Techno didn't wait for a reply, slipping into the darkness. DreamXD's feathers twitched in annoyance. The lights from their powers only illuminated a few feet in front of them before being swallowed by the black. The two walked in silence, listening for the tiniest of sounds. This place was quiet... too quiet.
"Where are the monsters?" DreamXD breathed.
Techno shook his head. DreamXD's spine tingled, that nagging feeling digging its nasty claws into him. The air pushed back harder the further they walked, the shadows growing more ominous, leading them straight to a massive cave opening in the mountain.
DreamXD raised his arm, forcing the light around his fingers to glow brighter. The walls of the cavern were scorched, the edges rough with large claw marks. Dried blood stains streaked the ground, as though someone injured had been roughly dragged inside.
"Heh?" Techno crouched, holding a palm above the blood streaks. His eyes flashed deep red, brows furrowing. The blood god straightened, turning his head to confirm the theory already growing in DreamXD's mind.
"Fundy and Foolish."
The dirty blond nodded tersely. His mask glowed green in the light, moving forward to investigate. TechnobladeND walked at his shoulder, the air thick with tension.
The tunnel was too wide to really be called a tunnel, but it soon opened into a huge, circular cavern. Scorch marks charred the stone walls, thick runes painted on the floor with blood. Two mangled bodies hung from the ceiling above the center, a large pool of dried blood beneath them.
