George POV
The battle ax in Dream's palms glinted in the sunlight, and George squeezed his eyes shut when it struck down with a sickening sound. DreamXD's body jolted in his arms, and he held him tight. A moment later he felt something warm spreading over the god's skin.
George slowly opened his eyes. He immediately looked at Dream, not wanting to see the god's wound. He froze when he spotted the transparent figure standing next to the dirty blond, who was staring in wide-eyed shock.
George404's gaze was locked on DreamXD, moving towards him with a sad, loving smile. "My sweet feral boy, I've missed you so much."
The forest god leaned down, his hand passing through DreamXD's. George sucked in a breath when the brunette's hand reappeared, grasping another transparent palm in his own. George404 gently pulled DreamXD's soul out of his body and to his feet. The god of mischief's soul, while transparent, was vibrant with perfect health. His wounds were gone, his dark eye bags faded. Not a feather was out of place on his wings, and even his green cloak morphed around him.
Emerald eyes widened, immediately locking on George404.
"Georgie...." DreamXD's voice was choked. Emotions crashed over his features, and he wrapped George404 into his arms, pressing them together so intensely it was almost like he was scared of letting go ever again.
George felt Dream's arm wrap around him, kneeling next to him as they watched. He leaned against the dirty blond, fighting back tears.
George404's hands gripped his lover's green cloak, leaning his cheek into the side of DreamXD's neck. His eyelashes fluttered shut, the tensions melting from his body.
DreamXD's body trembled, falling to his knees. George404 carefully moved with him, pulling the god of mischief's head against his chest as he began to sob. DreamXD broke, years of built-up grief pouring out of him like a broken dam of agony. Clinging tightly to George404, DreamXD's limp body shook with soft wails, face buried in his lover's neck.
Tears slipped down George404's cheeks, the glistening droplets falling to catch on strands of dirty blond hair. Their bodies began to fade, their outlines growing even fainter. A moment before they were gone, George404 looked up, heterochromatic eyes holding a deep warmth. He smiled gently, whispering a soft,
"Thank you."
George's heart ached warmly. They were together at last, and would never separate again. Thunder cracked, and he jumped. Thousands of thick strands of black lightning struck the ground in the distance all around them.
Dream held George a little closer, protectiveness radiating from him in waves.
"What is that?" Sapnap shouted, jogging up to them.
"I don't know." Dream scanned the sky, while George looked down at the peaceful expression on DreamXD's face. Somehow, he didn't think the lightning was a bad thing.
George404 POV
Finally... I can hold you again.
George404 held his lover close, tears streaking down his cheeks. He missed DreamXD so much, spending each day wishing DreamXD could just see him, to know he was there. Instead, he was forced to stay a silent spectator as the love of his life lost himself to grief, taking the world down with him.
After so long, his beloved soulmate was back in his arms, clinging to him and whispering soft "I love you"s and "I missed you"s just for George404's ears. The god's entire body was shaking, hot tears wetting George404's shirt. The landscape around them started to blur, and George404 felt a tug in his soul. They were going to the afterlife soon.
