George404 POV

It had been a year since that day in the market. They'd both gotten older, George404 now nineteen years old. DreamXD was eighteen, the two both growing into adults. DreamXD sat next to George404, who was laying in the warm grass with his eyes closed. George404 felt cool despite the sunlight, knowing without opening his eyes that DreamXD was shielding him from the sun with his wing.

A gentle smile curled George404's lips. DreamXD had gotten closer and closer to him since they'd gone for that first flight together. That flight hadn't been their last, either. DreamXD loved taking George404 for long flights, sometimes only circling above the enchanted forest late at night to watch the beautiful orbs of light rise from the trees. The luminescent flowers opening their glowing buds.

George404 cherished those flights, even if part of him worried what those flights really meant to DreamXD. Was it just him being a good friend? Or did he have... deeper reasons? George404 desperately hoped it was the latter. Not that he'd ever ask DreamXD directly.

George404 shifted, grass tickling his cheeks. His eyes slowly opened when a hand gently brushed his cheek. DreamXD was leaning over him, his wings still opened above them. The X shaped rings of light around his head that had formed rather suddenly in the last year glowed gently.

George404 propped himself on his elbows, accidentally bringing their faces a little too close for comfort. Before he could react, DreamXD slipped a colorful flower crown onto his head, which was conveniently absent of his mushroom hat for once. George404 flushed, reaching up to brush the soft petals.

"Did you weave that yourself?"

DreamXD hummed a yes. George404 stared at his mask, wishing he could see DreamXD's face as he propped himself up with a hand next to George404's head. His other hand carefully adjusted the flower crown.

Finally, he tilted his head to the side. "There, perfect."

George404's breath caught in his throat, his heart hammering against his ribs. DreamXD's wing tip brushed the grass, drawing George404's attention. He'd admit it, he loved DreamXD's wings. The soft white feathers were soothing to touch.

Reaching up, George404 brushed the downy wing, his fingers trailing through the feathers. DreamXD froze, his arm trembling slightly. George404 found it odd that he always got so tense when his wings were touched. Still, the dirty blond no move to stop him.

It wasn't until George404's fingers lightly trailed up the wing, enjoying the way the feathers grew softer the closer he got to the base of DreamXD's wings. DreamXD grabbed his hand, pinning his wrist down.

"Stop."

"Why? You've never complained about it before." George404 looked at DreamXD innocently through his lashes. He tried to raise his other hand, but that, too, was captured.

"It's... complicated." DreamXD sighed. "And I can't say no to you."

"Then let me go, idiot." George404 choked as DreamXD leaned down. He nudged DreamXD's thigh with his knee, trying to push him off. The dirty blond didn't budge. "Dream, get off."

DreamXD wheezed. "You are such an idiot. You're all red."

George404 glared but couldn't help laughing with him. He groaned, tilting his head back. "You are impossible."

"And you have pretty privilege."

George404's heart nearly stopped, his face burning. He stared up at the god he'd irreversibly fallen in love with. He didn't know when exactly he'd realized he was in love with DreamXD, but he knew his feelings had begun to develop in the years DreamXD visited George404 after his wing healed. He found himself affectionately covering the dirty blond with a blanket each time he'd crashed on George404's couch, growing depressed when he left. The feelings never went away, instead latching even deeper, until the love seeped into his very soul.
