"Happy birthday to you... happy birthday to you... happy birthday, dear gem... happy birthday... to you..." I laughed and blowing the candles, sliced a piece from my 16th birthday cake. Today has to be the special day of all days because today's banquet will not be held just to celebrate my birthday but also officially have me engaged to my man. My Ethan.
"Happy b'day gem. You turned sixteen," giving Ethan a cheek popping grin, I placed the cake slice on his lips and this man is just too much... all, while he stared at me and opening the mouth, took a bite but not for a second deviating his eyes.
"I'm so happy, Ethan that you remembered," I said as he had me eat the whole slice and then keeping the cake on the nightstand of the bed, he ran his thumb over my lips, wiping any speck of the chocolate left on my lips and then sucking over his thumb to finish off the remnant.
"Yummy," he said still staring at me and I blushed at his gaze. Oh, damn this man and forbid him to open his eyes. His piercing cobalt eyes always have me turn into a blush power when he looks at me that way.
"Why will I not baby girl, it's your b'day. Birthday of my most favorite person in the world," my heart nearly stopped at his statement but I won't lie how his words make me so confident of him, and about us. He is that special to me that I can believe him with a blindfold on.
In that second, he pinched my cheeks and I scrunched my nose annoyed. "Don't treat me like a kid, I'm sixteen now," when I said he chuckled making me while but in return giggling in himself again. Bloody kissable bastard.

I shook my head, deviating from my idiot conscience pinpointing my words too dramatically for my liking.
"Oh my gem, you are so cute and lovely. I just love you too much," I smiled at his words having him lean closer and settle a sweet and innocent peck on my forehead. I savored his soft lip's touch on my forehead skin with delight closing my eyes.
When he pulled away and stared at my face, feeling his gaze on me, I opened my eyes smiling ever so brightly making him smile too. This man in the middle of the night has climbed up the wall to my room just to celebrate my birthday.
"Gem, you are my life, I love you... so very much." He cupped my face, stroking my cheeks with his thumb. Holding his hands against my cheek and pressing my face further into his embrace I breathed with relief. "I love you, Ethan. More than my life. You're my everything." And it was genuine too. I never had any friend other than Ethan, he was my lover and best friend. There is nothing about me he doesn't know and more to the fact how he is so aware of my hard training to become the next goddess like my mother.
Even if he doesn't like me tiring myself but he is so proud of me that melts my heart. Ethan is the kind of guy who celebrates from my small achievement of excelling in my papers to the biggest achievement of completing my missions as a goddess to be and future leader of Serpents.
