"What shall we do now?" I asked my little 3-year-old son, who looked so adorable with his blue suit and black bow tie.
Today is Krystallo's birthday. Hurtful to remember but I still want to keep it cherished because of him. His looks are a carbon copy of his father. No one can deny they look the same, but only his eyes. Those orbs are the distinct ones that represent my essence in him.
"Mama, can we have some chicken and pasta in dinner, please..." he gave me a toothy grin as his goofy smile popped on his face and the front tooth he lost three weeks back while falling from stairs displayed.
"I will cook it for you, baby. And we can even have some sugary stuff afterward," I said pinching his nose tip, and he giggles. Ruffling his jet black hair as he whined made me chuckle.
"You both are ready?" Came the voice of David and smiling at him I nodded while Krystallo jumped from the bed running to him. David picked him up in his arms and tickled in his stomach making him laugh. My heart fluttered to see my boy's happiness. Walking up to two important males in my life, I stood there noticing their peculiar conversation.
"Don't tell Mama, okay Zio," Krystallo whispered loudly and David keeping his index on his lips shushed him. I laughed hard looking at them.
"That is bad Krystallo, are you going to keep secrets from Mama now, but weren't we best friends?" I asked him crossing my arms over my chest and pouting. He opened his arms towards me beckoning for me to take him and I did.
Settling him in a comfortable position in my arms, I kissed his cheeks and he kissed mine cupping my face with his tiny hands. "I love you, Mama." Smiling I kissed him tightly. "I love you, my baby."
"Now shall we go for dinner?" I asked him and nodding he cheered throwing his hands up in the air.
Gathering in the foyer of the house, I looked at Dad and Papa dressed up in a blue suit and black bow tie same as Krystallo while Maria wore a satin dress. Her four months baby bump was on display as David wrapped his one arm possessively around her.
In your love, I can make the whole Rome kneel, Gem.
"Mama... Mama..."
"Huh? Yes?" I snapped out from my little walk down the memory lane and looked at Krystallo who looked concerned as he touched my cheeks. Bringing his hands to my lips I kissed his palm and gulped the little knot of pain down plastering the smile my son loves to see on my face.
Just like his father, I never was able to forget a single moment spent with Ethan because Krystallo always kept him alive even if the Ethan I have loved and got married to is dead.
"Mama, why sad?" I shook my head and kissed his cheeks. "Mama is not sad. Mama was thinking about Papa." Hearing me, Krystallo started peppering lots of kisses on my face and I laughed genuinely.
My little boy is too intelligent than required but I still know his childishness can never be put off as well. Telling krystallo about his father was hard for me, but I have told him that his father is sick and forgot us. It wasn't too much known to him what I meant but he always knew what I wanted to convey. Because that is the reason this boy who has turned three today and is my world never asked where his father is.
