Bell

You used to hate him, you told me,

But by the way you talk about him I can see.

You really love him, which is really cool,

But now you may seem to yourself as a fool.

You are pushing against the forces of distance and trust just to reach out for him,

But the outcome so far has always turned out grim.

I was shocked when you asked me if it would be the end,

A wound that simply cannot mend.

You defy the odds and are always there for him when he needs it,

But he doesn't seem to care about any one of your problems a bit.

A civil war erupts inside your mind and soul for feelings,

Your brain and your heart fighting to control things.

You thought you knew,

That he was the only one that got you.

Yet he cannot accept your efforts to make things better,

Making him think why he ever met her.

Why put up so much hell,

For the glorious music of such a sweet bell?
