One Year Ago Today,

I wrote this on December 12, 2015 but for some reason didn't publish it. Well here it is...

One Year Ago Today,

I met you.

I remember because it was a day of competition and the day of my first audition.

I sat next to a childhood friend and you were there,

We talked about books and how much we loved them.

Things were good then.

One Year Ago Today,

We were both hung up on someone.

They had made us feel special in their own ways.

We thought they would be in our hearts forever,

But they aren't now.

One Year Ago Today,

We didn't know that we would grow close somehow.

Maybe it was all the late night talks or how meaningful they were.

I don't know why.

One Year Ago Today,

Something sparked,

In me and maybe you.

A single flame in a tundra,

That couldn't be put out.

Where even the smallest moments gave salvation when,

Things went wrong.

One Year Ago Today,

I didn't know that I would be torn by the truth and the lies

That came from you.

But I couldn't turn from you.

I'd ask myself,

Why?

One Year Ago Today,

I'd start to follow you blindly,

Because you were kind, and I know you still are.

When even some moments apart wouldn't make me question,

Why do I miss you?

Today,

We don't talk anymore.

Today,

We've both moved on.

Today,

Things are different.

One Year Ago Today,

I didn't know how much things would change.

And how I'd wish they hadn't.
