Part 39

Naira POV

I was standing there all confused when suddenly Kartik came from behind and closed my eyes with a blindfold.

'Kartik kya kar rahe ho?' I asked but he seemed to be in no mood to answer me, after some time the blindfold was removed from my eyes and I was shocked to see a cake kept there with 'WELCOME BACK NAIRA' written on it and other family members holding balloons in their hands while Kartik turned on the music.

Mumma handed me a knife and I cut the cake, I fed the cake to everyone, I was getting emotional to see how much everyone loved me and cared for me, my eyes got watery and maybe Kartik saw this and he tried lightening my mood, as he took some cream from the cake and smeared it across my cheek. My eyes widened and my mouth opened to form an 'O' shape. I gave him an angry glare but he tried to escape making a puppy face, but how could I let him escape? I took a bigger piece of cake and smeared it all over his face, making him look like a ghost and I busted into fits of laughter looking at him.

I could see him smiling as he made me laugh, I stopped laughing and looked into his eyes as he looked back into my eyes with the same intensity. The only thing I could see in his eyes was love, the immense love he had for me, I felt so lucky that I found someone like him who considers me to be such a crucial part of his life. We were having an intense eye lock only to be disturbed by the family members who fake coughed to bring us out of our own world, making us go all red with embarrassment.

We all danced a lot and spent a lot of time with each other giggling and chit-chatting making memories to be cherished for a lifetime.

We were all sitting together when Kartik received a phone call and went at a side to attend it. As soon as I saw him going, I sneaked towards the corner where he was making sure that no one sees me otherwise I and Kartik would have to again get embarrassed in front of the whole family.

He was talking on the phone and I hugged him from behind making him startled but then he held my hands close to his heart and continued taking on the phone. Soon, he hung up the call and tuned towards me and passed on a smile to me, which I reciprocated warmly. He then kissed my forehead while I pecked his cheek. We were having an intense eye lock and we moved closer to each other, his hands held my waist tightly while mine rested on his chest. I shut my eyes feeling his hot breaths on my face, which literally sent shivers down my spine. He inched closer and our lips were just about touch when I felt him backing off. Huh?

I opened my eyes to find him staring a car parked on the road. His red bloodshot eyes were showing anger as if he would kill the person in the car. I tried asking him if there's something wrong but he quickly left from there leaving me all confused.

I sighed and quickly went down to see that he was moving towards the car when the car started moving, he tried to chase the car by running behind it but failed. I was confused and now somewhere I was getting worried. Why did he run behind the car like this? Who was there in the car? What was going on?
