Part 41

Kartik's POV

"What? But how is this possible? I mean I myself saw him!!" I exclaimed trying to absorb the newly discovered piece of information.

"I don't know sir! But I am very sure that it can't be Shankar as he is dead, I myself saw his dead body along with the postmortem report!!" He said.

I am just not able to get anything right now, okay I know Shankar is dead but then how come I saw him, am I hallucinating? I just don't know what's going on?? It's so confusing, all the facts are pointing in different directions!! I can't trust anyone now. Maybe I should still go and check the spot where I suspected him to be so that I can know who is behind all this!!

I rushed towards the place in my car, Rahul along with a few other officers in another car, a little behind mine, following me to the area. I quickly went out of the car and saw an old garage, this is the place where I supposed him to be, the only deserted place, situated exactly between my and Naira's house.

I entered the place only to get the biggest shock of my life, Shankar standing in front of me alive!! I rubbed my eyes in disbelief, not able to digest the sight my eyes were showing me. I just stood there all numb to react to anything, looking at his face that had an evil and cunning smile, being all perplexed. Why was smiling like that? Is he up to something?

Before I could do something, I heard the creaking sound of the door and averted my gaze to see Rahul and others coming inside, all decked up with guns and ready to break his bones.

I was about to attack Shankar as he was really getting on my nerves now, but he looked so calm as if he was up to something really big. Before I could reach him, I heard a bullet shot and was shocked to see the scenario going on at my back, Rahul had shot one of the two officers with him while the other one was at his gunpoint, I was shocked by his sudden change of party!! Oh God, I shouldn't have trusted him!!

And THUD!!!!

Within no time the other officer was also on the ground, covered with blood, taking his last breath.

I felt so helpless!!

I took out my gun to shoot Rahul but stopped in my tracks as Shankar showed me a clip on his phone.

My eyes widened with fear as I saw the clip and immediately dropped the gun being helpless and devastated to see that they had already captured Naira.

I heard both of them laughing, looking at my vulnerable state and praising themselves for what they called their master plan.

I was so furious at them at that moment that I felt like ripping their heads off but then I saw Naira's face, I saw her tied to a chair as in the clip making me feel helpless and useless.

"Why did u do this Rahul? I thought u we're honest, I trusted u!!"

"And thinking that was ur biggest mistake!" He said looking directly into my eyes as if mocking at me.

"And coming to why....hmm, of course, I did this for money! How long I would work under an honest officer who neither takes bribe nor let others take it!!" He said with a hint of sarcasm in his voice.

"Leave Naira!" I said as I let out a sigh of defeat.

I heard a wicked chuckle in response.

"Pls Shankar!!" I felt defeated at the moment by begging him.

"SHANKAR??" He said in an enquiring tone, raising his eyebrows along with an evil smile playing on his lips.
