today was finally your last day of high school, even though it was quite emotional you were so glad to leave and graduate soon. you call your mom as you make your way into your car.

"hey mom!" you say

"hey sweetheart! how was your last day of high school? god, that makes me feel old" mom sighs

"it was good, i survived which is good" you laugh "next stop, college!"

"oh lord don't make me cry at work y/n" mom replies

"mom what did we say? you can cry when i'm there, not on your own at work" you remind her

"right okay fine" mom says "derek it's y/n!"

"is dad there?" you ask

"hey loser" dad jokes

"hello idiot" you reply. you and your dad always joke around like that, but you never mean it. he's your best friend throughout everything, all the shootings, plane crashes, deaths, boyfriends.

"last day of high school today huh? god you make me feel old" dad says

"congratulations father, you are officially an old man. i'll book you your retirement vacation" you tease "okay i'm getting in my car now, see you soon! love you both!"

"love you y/n!" they both say and end the phone. you get in the car and drive off to grey-sloan.

"ALL MY LIFE IVE BEEN GOOD BUT NOW IM THINKING WHAT THE HELL" you sing at the top of your lungs to your favourite song, 'what the hell'. you're driving down the road when a car comes right behind you, swerving everywhere.

"oh my god! are they drunk?" you say to yourself when you realise "oh shit.". you put your foot down, trying to get away from the drunk driver.

but it's too late.

he drives straight into you, causing your car to flip. you cant feel anything, from your head to your toes. nothing.

"can you hear me? there's a girl in here! honey we're gonna get you out okay, please just hold on" you vaguely hear an old lady say.

five minutes later, the station 19 firefighters come to get you out of the car.

"i recognise this car" andy says

"oh my god" ben gasps

"what is it warren?" maya asks

"that's y/n's car? y/n grey-shepherd! derek and meredith's eldest kid" ben shouts "we need to control the fire around the vehicle and get her out now".

"i... wanna... go home" you struggle to say. you're taken out of the vehicle and taken to grey-sloan by the paramedics while station 19 control the flames from the collision. you arrive at grey-sloan in bad shape, your body hurting everywhere.

"y/n grey-shepherd, 18, hit by a drunk driver turning. bp's 140/90." the paramedic announces

"oh my god... oh my god!" teddy says "page grey and shepherd NOW"

you're taken to trauma 2 and everyone gathers around to see what happened to the daughter of meredith and derek.

"what the hell is going on? who is that, she's in bad shape!" meredith asks jo

"mer, it's y/n. go now" jo replies seriously. they run to trauma 2 and see you, their little girl, in the worst state possible.

"no this isn't real... this isn't y/n" mom gasps
