Twelve

When I reach home the sound of Matt's voice floods the kitchen.

"Hey Vicki are you okay?" He asks her with concern in his voice. I walk into the kitchen and see Matt, Jeremy, and Vicki.

"Matty it hurts. My gums, there's something in them." Vicki whines.

"It's okay. You're gonna be okay." Matt reassures her. I get out my phone and call Stefan. Of course he doesn't respond. Just my luck.

Vicki gets up and marches into the living room. She both looks and sounds unstable. This transition is hurting her and the only person who can help, isn't answering his phone right now.

"Vicki I need you to calm down." I tell her soothingly. I try to place my hands on her shoulders but she swats my hands away.

"Stop it Eleanor!" She snaps.

She then moves her attention to the tv. The news is on and Logan Fell is talking about a "Drug Deal Gone Wrong". They show the cemetery, and announce the dead kids that Damon killed.

"Hey we were there last night!" Jeremy exclaims pointing at the tv. I look back over at a teary eyed Vicki.

"What happened Vick?" Matt asks his sister."That's it I'm calling the cops."

"No please don't Matty." Vicki pleads her brother.

"I think your brother is right Vicki. Do you remember anything that happened when you were there with them?" I ask her.

"Shut up Eleanor! For the last time!" She snaps at me. If she wasn't a transitioning vampire I would've punched her right in her stoner face.

"Vicki...calm down. I'm only trying to help." I tell her calmly.

"No you're not!" She yells.

"Vicki come on now." Jeremy chimes in.

Just then the front door opens and Stefan and Elena walk right in. They both look at the scene with confusion.

"What's going on?" Elena asks. Stefan goes up to Vicki's face and studies it. It doesn't take him long to figure out that she's in transition.

"Take her upstairs and shut the blinds. She's gonna be fine." Stefan instructs Matt and Jeremy. They follow his orders and head upstairs with her.

I follow Stefan into the kitchen. "I tried to call you and tell you!" I whisper-shout.

"I'm sorry. I was talking to Elena." Stefan explains. Elena walks into the kitchen.

"Do you know what's happening?" She asks the two of us.

"She's turning." I say.

"Turning..." Elena trails off.

"She's transiting into a vampire. Damon turned her." I say crossing my arms and letting out a sigh.

"She has to feed on human blood to finish the transition." Stefan explains to her.

"And if she doesn't?" Elena asks him.

"She's gonna die." Stefan replies.

"Wait Jeremy-" Elena starts.

"Vicki doesn't know what's happening. Jeremy will be fine. Her memories will come back and then she'll have to make a choice." Stefan explains to her.

"Like you did." Elena says moving her attention to Stefan.

"That's not fair." I tell her. Just then Vicki runs down the stairs and out the front door. We all run outside to follow her except she's nowhere to be found.
