"When are we going to be there? How long does it take?"
"Please remind me that I never go on a road trip with you." He replies and I cross my arms.
"As if you'd ever go on a road trip." I say and he frowns.
"I used to when I was....well...
"Younger?" I finish and start laughing.
"Don't you dare, Aria." He mumbles.
I lean back into my seat and watch the lights pass. We're driving into town, I can see that.
"Wild times, yeah?" I laugh.
He doesn't reply something, but I know that he has to calm himself.
He takes a left and suddenly we stop in a rather dark alley.
"If you wanted to kill me, you could have told me before. I wouldn't have worn my good jeans." I say, serious.
Downey turns off the engine and catches my glance.
"Can't you, just for one second, stop your sarcastic comments?"
I raise an eyebrow. "People who live in a glasshouse shouldn't throw stones."
He rolls his eyes and gets out of the car. I follow him and step onto the pavement.
"Are you going to tell me now?"
Shaking his hand, he grins. "Come on."
He pulls me further into the alley and stops in front of a black door. "Ready?"
I laugh. "I suppose so."
He opens it and we walk inside.
Immediately, I'm surrounded by darkness. I can't even see him in front of me anymore. Then I hit something with my feet and stumble forward, falling on something. Hands pull me back and steady my body. As my feet are on the ground again, I feel his hands on my back. Downey's nose is touching mine and I feel his breath on my lips. I can't help but inhale his scent and try to hold back my hands, which are pressed against his chest. He doesn't bother to move his arms away, which are still wrapped around me, pressing my body against his. I gulp as I look up, into his eyes. They're not easy to see, but even though the darkness surrounds us, the storm inside his eyes seems to suffocate my thoughts on pulling away.
He clears his throat almost unrecognisable and like that, I have power of my body.
My feet step away and I try not to fall again.
"Are you okay?" His voice cuts the silence.
I nod. Then I realise that he can't see me properly. "Yes."
My voice isn't more than a dry whisper.
"Well then, follow me."
He grabs my hand and we walk further into the darkness. Them he opens another door and again, no light in sight.
But I can feel that we are walking almost a little downhill. When he stops, I almost run into him again.
Then he turns right and walks a couple of steps in this direction. Just when I was about to ask what was going on, he tells me to sit down. I frown, but lower my body and feel a soft seat. I sit down and still, wonder where the hell we are.
"So, what are we going to do now?" I ask. No reaction.
"Downey?"
"Downey!" I repeat, but still there is no answer. I search with my hands in the darkness, but I can't grab something, just a soft thing I front of me. I sit there for quite a time, thinking that maybe he just pulled a trick on me.
"Yeah. Sure. Just let me sit here. I've literally got nothing to do, nowhere to go. I mean, it's not 1am in the morning." I shout. "I'm just chilling. Keeping it cool. Relaxed. Don't stress."
I look around and wait for something.
No. Nothing. Then I start to sing, randomly.
"I'm singing in the rain. Just singing on the rain. What a glorious feeling, I'm happy again. I'm laughing at clouds so-
Lights.
All of a sudden, strong bright light is blinding me.
"What the fuck?" I mumble and squint. Slowly, my eyes adjust to the light and then I see it. The first thing I can recognise, are the seats. Rows and rows of red seats. I turn around and look around.
It's a fucking theatre!
I'm sitting in a fucking theatre!
All of the other seats are empty. Then I look where the stage should be, but it is still in total darkness. Then slowly, a dim light, starts revealing the first couple of feet of the stage.
"What on earth is going on?" I whisper.
But before I can say anything else, someone steps into the stage light.
At first I can't really see who just stood out. But then the person lifts up his head.
The hair is perfectly in place. Not a single string of it is messy. But the most impressive thing, is his suit. Not only does it embrace his body like a second skin, it is purple. He's wearing a purple suit.
That man has no shame.
I open my mouth to say something, but I'm interrupted by a loud noise.
Then the whole stage lights up and an orchestra appears.
What. The. Actual. Fuck.
The music fills the room as if a hundred bird were released from a cage.
At first I can't figure out what they're playing, but then Downey steps further towards me and I finally see the microphone.
