– Robert'spoint of view –
It feels like Ican't keep the earth below my feet. My mind spins, restless and I'mnot able to control my thoughts. Or anything.
Thank god, Ican keep a straight face, even though it's the last thing I want todo right now.
She talks toColin as if she'd really just met me. As if this were the first timeshe has shaken my hand, touched my skin, laid eyes on me. But itisn't. And I can't believe she is so calm, so content about it.Shouldn't I be the one who has his shit together? I'm the older one.The grown-up here. However, every time she's in my presence, I loseit. I make a complete fool out of myself.
"Robert? Areyou alright?"
Colin's voiceresounds from the outside of my little bubble and I look up.
"What?" Isay rather blunt and raise my eyebrows.
"Have youheard anything of what I just said?" Colin smirks and crosses hisarms. Aria is standing next to him, giving me a neutral look. She'snot even giving me anything right now and I would hate her for that,if I could.
"I didn'tlisten." I reply and take a step towards him.
Colin sighs andturns to Aria. "I was just explaining Aria and Michael that theywill be split up in teams. Two for you, two for me. And that theother two should arrive any minute."
I nod. "Good."
As if someonehad listened to the conversation, the door opens and someone walksin. It isn't the receptionist this time, but a guy.
His smile is sobig, you can even see it through the dark beard he is wearing. Hishair is brown, messy, not straightened nor combed, just sticking inevery possible direction. He seems young, or at least younger thanme. And he is taller. A lot taller. Fucker.
"Hi."He can speak. "I'm Jeffrey Morgan. You must be Mr. Lockwood, Sir.It's a pleasure."
Colinshakes his outstretched hand and shows a smile. "Nice to meet you,Jeffrey."
Hepoints to me. "This is Mr. Downey, my partner and these are yourfellow interns. Aria and Michael."
JeffreyMorgan steps towards me first, but then he turns around. Movingtowards Aria, he stretches out his hand.
"Whereare my manners?" He smiles. "Excuse my behaviour. I'm JeffreyMorgan, nice to meet you."
Ariaseems startled by his actions, yet entranced.
"Youtoo, Jeffrey. I'm Aria."
"Morganis just fine." He replies and doesn't let go of her hand.
"Really?"Aria says stunned. "I wouldn't have put you for the last name kindaguy."
"Iwouldn't have thought that my fellow interns are so good-looking, butyou can be wrong."
Ariaraises an eyebrow with his statement and grins.
"Areyou flirting with me in front of my new boss?"
"Iwouldn't dare." Morgan replies and finally, for the love of god, lets go of her hand.
Whaton earth is happening here? Is she flirting with this new guy infront of me? Isnothing sacred anymore? He just swamps in here, acting like he ownsshit and steals other men's women. That's how much it takes to gether to smile now? A freaking pick-up line that I could get from theinternet in two seconds.
