Robert's POV

Vibrating.

Something is vibrating.

And not in a nice way.

I try to open my eyes. Unsuccessful.

Using my ears to detect, where this sound is coming from.

It's coming from my pants, which are crumbled up on the floor.

With the little strength and willpower that's left, I roll over to the side of the bed. Without making another sound, I tip toe over the wooden floor and reach for my slacks.

Someone is calling. When I grab my phone and manage to put it on silent, I see the caller ID in clear letters on the screen.

Shit.

My mind slowly starts to pull itself out of the foggy daze it was just bathing in and emerges into a clearer state.

As quiet as I can, I walk out of the bedroom and answer the phone.

"Yes?" I say, as if I hadn't stood him up just now.

"Robert. You know that I'm rather fond of you. But even I have my dignity." In his deep voice, he sounds like the villain out of a Marvel movie. God, how I love these films.

"I'm sorry Idris, I got so caught up in work and then I fell asleep." Which is partly true.

"Fine." The sigh on the other end of the line sounds more like a threat. "You could've just told me that you didn't want to go."

"You wouldn't have taken 'no' for an answer, Idris." I mumble back and get a little laughter from his side.

"Fair enough." He agrees. "But let's get together this weekend. Maybe Saturday? We don't have to go out. You could come over."

"Sounds divine." I reply, only a little sarcastic. "I'll see what I can do. Call you tomorrow?"

"Alright. Don't be a stranger, Robert." He says, before I hang up the phone.

He wasn't as pissed as I thought he would be. Way to go, Idris.

It is dark outside and as I take a look at my phone, I see that it is only 10pm. When on earth was the last time I fell asleep this early?

Shaking my head, I leave my phone on the kitchen counter and slowly make my way back to the bed.

I rub my eyes and before letting myself into the sheets that still seem to be warm, I take a look at the naked body that is spread out between the pillows. Familiar curves like the shore, present themselves without shame, only partly covered by the light blue sheets. There is a beam of warm streetlight coming through the bedroom window, illuminating her hair, which is almost everywhere.

The beat of my heart seems to run away, as I stand there gazing at the beauty in front of me. It almost hurts a little in my chest. I lift up the blanket and slide back into the bed.
