Right after I shut the door behind me, I crash into my sheets. Somehow I am extremely tired after the night out. It was a nice evening though. All the talking and laughing and most importantly pizza. Such good pizza. And this place is just around the corner! How did I not know that? I should definately go out more. See more of New York. Maybe I should do one of these tours with a bus or something. Like a tourist. That could be fun..right?
My body is a little cold and aches for something warm and soothing.
With a groan I lift my body off the bed and start to peel out of all these clothes. Remaining in my underwear, I go into the small kitchen and get out a mug to make some tea. That's the thing about living alone, you can just make tea in your underwear at midnight. Even though my body is tired, I suddenly feel the need to bake something. I want to eat some cookie dough.
I'm gonna make some cookie dough. It's a deal.
So I get out a bowl and wip up some batter. Crack up some chocolate I find in the fridge and pour it all in. I stick my finger inside the blue bowl and give it a taste. Does anybody else think about what heaven feels like? I found the recipe.
Right as I am about to sit down in front on my bed to watch a new episode of Scandal, there is a knock on the door. I frown. This late at night? I really hope this isn't one of Hannah's surprise visits. I get up and throw on a silk dressing gown I got for my birthday last year. It's so incredibly soft.
Slowly I unlock the door and open it.
"Oh, it's you." I say and am a bit surprised to be looking into these familiar hazel eyes.
"You didn't look before you opened the door?" His voice is raspy and kind of irritated.
"No?"
"You know that's dangerous, right? It could have been someone you didn't know."
"But it's you." I repeat and frown. "What's up?"
Downey is wearing the same thing he wore about an hour ago. Yet, his hair is messy and he looks a bit out of place.
He shifts from one side to the other and runs a hand through his hair. Downey looks a bit uncomfortable and stays silent.
"Hello? Is somebody home?" I say and wave my hand.
"Yeah. It's just....I think we shouldn't see each other anymore."
I frown. "What?"
"We shouldn't see each other anymore." He repeats with a more stern tone in his voice.
"And you had to come to my door at midnight to tell me this?" I ask.
"I wanted you to know right away. To make sure you didn't read anything into tonight."
I nod. "Ah. May I ask why?"
"Why what?"
"Why is it that we can't see each other anymore?"
Downey straightens his back. "Because it is just wrong. I'm your boss and you're my employee. And in a couple of days we're going to be family."
What on earth has gotten into the man who I just went on a date with this evening?
"Fine."
"Fine?" He says, surprised.
I shrug my shoulders. "Yes. Fine."
Then I realise I am still holding the bowl of cookie dough, so I dip my hand in it and lick it off my fingers.
"What are you doing?" He says and scratches his stubble.
