Fear.

Fear is the only thing that controls this world.

Fear is the only thing that can destroy it.

Fear is moldable.

Twist and mend the edges towards what you desire.

Make it seem as if it is a concept you understand.

In the end.

It's all still the same.

It all comes down to fear.

Is... that what I must do to save them?

...

Very well.

The cries of the innocent rang out, filling the echoing streets with their haunting tune. People scattered, trying to escape the deadly fate that awaited them.

Blood oozed from a wound that had been recently opened upon Stella's leg. It stained her fur a deep crimson as it seeped into it. Stella gritted her teeth as the nauseating pain throbbed in an uncontrollable manner. Thundering against her nerves at every given second as it threatened to break both her and her mind.

The battlefield shivered as another bomb was dropped, going off in the distance as it scattered debris around... a cloud of dust followed, coating the land in toxic fumes.

Pain.

Pain is all she could feel.

The thought echoed around her mind, only increasing in volume in comparison to the endless shrieks and screams that coated them as well. The walls of her mind shuddered, repeating and replaying events that she did not wish to see again. Events she had never wished to see in the first place.

What were they even fighting for...?

It felt as if the war had just broken out and they'd gotten caught in the middle.

That...

That was exactly what had happened. They had no place in this war and there was no reason to keep losing their men. Stella gritted her teeth as she attempted to stand up... to little avail. She immediately let a cry escape her lips as a shooting pain reached up her leg, digging its fangs into any bit of flesh or bone that it could get its hands on.

Stella could feel her consciousness begin to fade as her eyes blurred. The world around her became nothing more than what one would see underwater... the details fading from existence and the darkness slowly beginning to consume what it was able to.

The last thing she could comprehend was the sound of desperate footsteps pounding in her direction.

"Stella!!!"

Zell

Zell's sharp eyes gleamed with more emotion than he could explain as he stared longingly at the woman who sat across from him, sipping her drink quietly.

The paleness of her fur shimmered within the morning glow of the sun, radiating across the room and blinding almost anyone who got caught in its rays. She was explaining something, going into depth as she often times did, her expression painted with annoyance.

"—and they just expect us to go out there and risk our lives for nothing!" She hissed, throwing her arms in the air as Zell leaned forward slightly, a smug grin planting itself on his face.
