Chapter 38

She watched closely for the young prince, and when the ship split into two, she saw him sink in the sea. At first, she was overjoyed that she could live with him, but then she recalled that humans could not live underwater. She swam among all the floating planks and beams, completely forgetting that they might crush her. She dived through the waves and rode their crests until at length she reached the young prince who was unable to swim in the raging sea. She held his head above water and allowed the waves to take them wherever the waves went. She saw dry land rise before her in high blue mountains, fine white sand had been washed up below the cliffs. She swam the prince, stretched him out on the sand, taking special care to pillow his head up high in the warm sunlight. The bells began to ring in the great white building and several young women came out into the garden. The little mermaid swam away behind some rocks that stuck out of the water.

When the prince regains his consciousness and smile at everyone around him. But he did not smile at her, for he did not even know that she had saved him, she felt unhappy, and when they led him away to the big building she divided sadly down into the water and returned to her father palace. Many evenings and many mornings she revisited the spot where she had left the prince in the hope to see him again.

It was long before she came across the famous sea witch "I know exactly what you want" said the sea witch "It was very foolish of you, but the same you shall have your way, for it will bring you to grief, my proud princess. You want to get rid of your fishtail and have two props instead so that you can walk about like a human creature and have the young Prince fall in love with and win him an immortal soul besides." At this, the witch gave such a loud cackling laugh that the toad and the snakes were shaken to the ground they lay writhing.

"You are just in time," said the witch. "After the sun comes up tomorrow, you shall go onto land and drink the potion and then you shall become human. But it will sting, it will feel as if a sharp sword slashed through you and every step you take will feel as if you are treading upon knife blades so sharp that blood must flow. Are you willing to suffer all this?"

"Yes"

The little mermaid said in a trembling voice, as she thought of the prince and of gaining a human soul.

"Remember!" said the witch. "Once you have taken a human form, you can never be a mermaid again, and if you don't win the love of the prince so completely that he forgets his parents, cleaves to you with his every thought and his whole heart and lets the priest join your hand in marriage then you will become sea foam"

"I shall take the risk," said the mermaid with determination.

"Also, you will have to pay me," said the witch "And it's no trifling price that I am asking. You have to pay me the sweetest voice of anyone down here at the bottom of the sea, and while I don't doubt you would like to captivate the prince with it you must give me your voice"

"Go ahead," said the little mermaid "Take it"

She made a deal with a witch and when you make a deal with evil the outcomes are never fair, for the witch used her voice to take the princes heart and the princess was left to become the foam of the sea. So don't get fool by Disney and sometimes... no matter how much you want something with all your heart it just does not go your way, that is when you got to learn to do the right thing at the right time because sometimes in life you are given something for a reason.

"Freya what are you doing," said Re'al as she jumped onto the bed next to me. I closed the letter and hid it under the book and responded "You wanna feel the baby" I asked excitedly.

"You like only two months old what do you expect me to feel besides your flesh"

Oh my god, this child. "Fine when the baby kicks you not feeling it," I said as I stuck out my tongue.

"Are you being for real that is the time I want to touch your stomach"

"What time is this BBQ starting."

"Just now we just waiting for Derek's friends to come"

"I am starving" I made sure to add my puppy eyes.

"You know that stuff doesn't work for me, but what do you want to eat"

"Ummm I don't know but something light" just then a light bulb lit up "I want that pineapple you brought" since when did I feel for fruits.

"You weirdo, I will bring it up for you in two minutes," she said as she gave me a salute before she dodged off.
